Dear Oshimi,

I have a bone to pick with you!

Most of your works are didactic, describing your feelings on the themes present in whatever work: gender identity in Welcome Back, Alice and Inside Mari, loneliness and parenthood in Blood on the Tracks, and so forth! They're conduits for emotions and your past life, and while most of the time it pays off... yeah, it pays off! But not all the time!

Okay, I'm going to throw that framing device in the trash. This is a review, not Stan by Eminem. Inside Mari is a fine piece of work. The art is middling, but turning a ... body swap story into a horror tale in the early volumes is a smart move. The characters are damaged, their actions are frantic and poorly thought out, but it all works! I guess the issue is the plot twists: they're kind of dumb sometimes! You really see this in the later volumes, where contrivances are made for the sake of drama. I don't wanna hear any whingeing about "but all stories do that", it's a gamble that just doesn't pay off here. But it's not so bad. Inside Mari ends up being very good, just not the master work I've come to expect from a coming-of-age story from Oshimi.

His usual rawness isn't held back at all, and the *general* whole of Inside Mari works. It teeters here and there, but as a drama, it does the job. The characters feel real, their dilemmas thought out pretty well, it's just that the plot wavers a little uncomfortably.

a guy has a crush on a girl that he sees come into the convenience store he works and the next morning wakes up in her body!.Pretty simple setup which is not my cup of tea but things get pretty weird or probably mind fucky.
And again I'm a bit of a sucker for body-swapping and gender-bender manga in general, but this one in particular took the formula to very interesting places.
Okay let's talk about "inside mari " this manga bought mixed emotions out of me,it touched like no other author's works did.
I don't highly recommend this series because it is not going to be ... for everyone,some might find it not an easy read maybe discomforting as well

It was the same as scrolling through Twitter; banal, toxic, boring but in the end I'm satisfied that I saw some titties. Even though the art style of this manga is good asf, reading something that is this unraveled made me almost faint. As we say for the most mangas that are like this, the term
"good drawn, not good written" also applies for this manga but I'm happy that I read and felt at least even if a little bit satisfied in the last chapter. I'm no critique for mangas and I don't even claim but the hard-work to prolonge the story can be ... seen by anyone. As for the characters, there are literally no interesting characters except for the main character whose motivation behind her is too abstract to be understandable but this is the thing ,I guess, that makes her interesting. Anyway, in the end it was mostly boring, I can say, but the art style makes this manga really something else and remembering some chapters still gives me goosebumps.
My recommended reading style for this manga is to skip everything that you have no interest of because in the end it fucking nothing but cliché for the most part.
