This was the first manga I've read that I felt deeply connected to its themes. (Positionality:21 y/o American female)
A lot of people will only read the first few chapters and decide it's not for them. I probably would have done the same if I hadn't seen where the plot was going early on. But I figured out what the twist would be and read on. This manga is a great coming-of-age story with a theme that focuses on the confusion of the self and the ways in which we fragment our identity during adolescence through early adulthood. Tokyo Ghoul was one of the first manga I've read, so when I saw a new manga by Sui Ishida, I had to check it out.
So far, it's a pretty decent manga; as of writing this, there are only 7 chapters out, so I can't comment much on the story. There are a few cliches at that start that are especially noticeable if you read many shounen mangas, but I won't fault the story for that. The power system in the manga feels very similar to other mangas, but I'm hoping that when the power system becomes more flushed out, it will become more ... |
