Both titles masterfully weave elements of tragedy and slice of life, and are especially good at pulling on your heartstrings when necessary. In Kyou no Kira-kun, the male lead has one year to live, while in Orange, the female lead hears about the death of the male lead from a letter from the future. While Kyou no Kira-kun's tone is a bit lighter, both titles strongly emphasize supporting each other and making the most out of each day by living without regrets. 

- In both the main hero has a serious heart disease. - Slow romance, beautiful artwork, touching story.  

Both contains a heroine who falls in love with a boy who only has a small period of time before they die.The male protagonists do not want to die and the females make the best of the time they have remaining. 

Demographics and premises in both mangas are kind of different but the way the story between the main characters is developed is actually very similar. Main girl and boy are neighbors and under certain circumstances they start a friendship which slowly turns into a romance. This point of the story is very well managed by these two series. Kyou no Kira-kun and Bonnouji manage to capture your attention from the very first chapter. Bonnouji's characters are simpler and more grown up than Kyou no Kira-kun's, and the latter has more drama and a heartbreaking fact of one of the characters going on. Warm fuzzy feeling, cute art and realistic aspects are a plus. read more 

It's the same author (Mikimoto Rin) and there's also a special chapter for Kinkyori Renai featured in the first volume of Kyou no Kira-kun. ^^ There's also a cute female protagonist whow can't show her emotions very well to others, though the one in Kinkyori Renai is a top student, while in Kyou no Kira-kun, the girl is an outsider at first. In both works, there's a love rival from before the male protagonist and the heroine met. 

The first three chapters of Kigi no Yukue is similar to Kyou no Kira-kun as it both involves a loner girl who meets a guy that she falls for, but alas, he has a disease (in Kigi no Yukue the girl has the disease) and cannot live for long. When the love interest finds out about the disease, they become surprised, but stay with them anyways. They also spend more time together, spending all time that they can together. However, Kigi no Yukue is finished and shorter, whereas Kyou no Kira-kun is longer (finished, by still scanlating).  

School romance, similar fluff feeling. Start dating more or less early. 

The two characters have a heart disease and they only have 3 months to 1 year to live and a lovely love story between them despite their illness.

Both include the main character undergoing change (in good ways) once meeting someone precious, as well as both having the tragedy, shoujo and romance genres. 

If you read and like Kyou no Kira-kun, a good similiar story is Hana to Rakurai. The characters have some similarities as the girl in Kyou no Kira-kun is sort of like some of the characters in the other, and both have some themes in common, about wanting to live a life without regrets and a hint of tragedy to them. Both stories have a little romance and some tears although the themes are not so much romance but more about life. These shoujos both have characters dealing with problems.  

Both have: - Antisocial/loner heroine. - Popular male guy that suffers from a serious illness. - A protagonist that likes to take pictures/film beautiful things. - Great artwork.  

Three words define these manga: Sweet. Unique. Heartbreaking. (and both with a touch of supernatural); When you read a synopsis of a shoujo manga, you'll automatically think "here's another cliché with unoriginal plot where blushing weak girl meets popular boy, falls in love and there is a love triangle bla bla". These two manga however break the shoujo genre by adding strong willed heroines who have lovely flaws, who actually have similar names: Niina and Nino. These are the type of shoujo where you can feel every single feeling with intensity, pulling your heart strings at best, not focusing just in the romance, but mostly in the power of bonds. The males break the typical male stereotype in the genre, and these two guys (Atsurou and Kira) are so perfect for their heroine counterpart that you cannot even think in anyone else between them. They cry, they laugh, they smile while tearing up. They´re wounded but they give their best to carry on. Also, you'll find the loveliest pets in both manga: a friendly chicken and a talking bird. If you like one, you certainly will like the other. If you haven´t read none, give it a try. read more 

Both about boy who is slightly mean and really sweet girl and one is dying. If you like the one you will defiantly like the other as it has the same kind of feel 

This manga it's similar in how the female protagonist change herself from beeing a loner to a nice beautiful and cheerful girl. Both the boy and the girl are cute and funny. 

If you like Kyou no Kira-Kun for a similar manga try Haru Meguru. In these shoujos, the female mc's are sort of outsiders in class and have been bullied or ostracized because they don't fit in and have character growth in the story from weak to stronger. The male mc's both are serious medical problems that they are dealing with. These are not typical romance shoujos although that would a genre they have, but deal in deeper issues, and both do face them; but the writers do so in a good way that does not become too depressing either.  read more

MC befriends someone who inspires MC to become better people. The love interest is withering away and lives life to their fullest extent, which brings colour into MC's world.
