Both mangas delve into the problems with society and how crossdressers and homosexuals get judged and are confined into a cage. A cage where they are unable to express their true emotions and expressions. In Shimanami Tasogare, it goes deeper into other issues and cross-dressing itself and homosexuality whilst Ouji-Sama to Haiiro no Hibi lightly touches the topic of freedom of expression and is more so dominated with a classic shoujo romance with a side story of a shounen-ai romance.

Both protagonists find themselves crossdressing to impersonate a noble, rich person, coming from a turbulent family situation. They both seriously play their roles while modifying their body and behavior to successfully do the part and get a compensation. Also, both stories are shoujo/josei written by authors that have also made a name for themselves writing BL.

The Prince in His Dark Days and Prince Freya are two shoujo series where the female protagonist meets a male character who looks exactly like them. He is also in a higher position of power than her, and when he is out of the picture, our main character impersonates him so that chaos will not ensue. Despite one of them set in our present and the other a medieval fantasy, both series have similar appeal in their art style and some character interactions.

Both are about a pauper (a girl in OujiHibi and a boy in SO) who has an identical face to a rich person from the opposite gender (a millionaire boy in Oujihibi, a princess in SO) and ends up replacing them. Both have great art.
