There are two main similarities between these two serialisations: an astronaut selection test and an initiative to travel to Mars.

In both a bunch of kids with unique skills/abilities set out to become astronauts(St&rs)/detectives(T.G.Q). In both the trio of main characters is composed by a cheerful friendly guy, an energetic tsundere girl and a boy with a calm and aloof personality.

To become the greatest striker in the world is not different from going to mars, right? And how to get there is by training, competing, and surviving. While Maho is beginning his journey in the Space Academy, the Blue Lock is Isagi battlefield. You will find yourself supporting these interesting MCs while reading these real page turner manga series!!

Both are about findind an alien civilization on Mars, the improvement in Earth technology thanks to that discovering and sending a group of kids to meet/fight those aliens.

While ST&RS is about going to Mars to meet aliens, Star Children is about going to Jupiter to possibly rescue the crew of the first manned exploration mission to Jupiter that suffered an accident some years prior. Both series follow the main character through astronaut training. ST&RS is more futuristic sci-fi while Star Children sticks to more realistic technology. I, for one, love the somewhat neglected niche genre of astronaut manga, and these series are both quite good and deserve more attention (as of this writing, Star Children is on the list of only 78 members)

Space travel is the central theme in both series.
