Both set in Ikebukuro, with a young main character trying to solve problems in his everyday life involving weird and shady individuals. Colour gangs, their leadership and their turf wars also play a major role in the plot of both. I would recommend watching the live action drama for IWGP and the anime for Durarara!!, as the plot is easier to follow and is better quality. It enhances the experience of reading the manga by a lot. 

A young slacker protects, problem-solves in, and indirectly rules his corner of Tokyo using his unique skills and knowhow, and it doesn't hurt that, despite not being directly involved with them, he has every gang in the area at his beck and call. All the while, his clingy, amateurish female sidekick follows after him like a puppy and his hardboiled single mother nags him for being lazy and never helping her at work. It would actually probably be quicker to list the differences; looking at it like this, they're practically the same series! 

Both manga are playing in Tokyo, Japan. In each manga there are a group of teens who get into trouble. While reading you get a closer look into the city life of Shibuya's and Ikebukukuro's (crime) scene. A lot of action, great artwork and a big story in 4 volumes. Don't miss it.
