While eventually Claymore and Kiba no Tabishounin diverge into totally different directions, they both start off similarly: two young boys are bereft after their families are killed, and the female leads take them in under the guise of making them their servant. The boys are initially a bit weak, especially compared to such strong women, but the during the long, hard journeys they face, they show remarkable growth. The female leads themselves both appear cold, indifferent, and, at times, morally ambiguous. They look out for the boys in their own way. They're also both part of a larger organization that dictates their actions and gives them  read more

Similar atmosphere in many ways. Both are grotesque and the fight scenes have similar pacing, that is to say good pacing. The fight scenes also have an emphasis on weapons. The plots are also similar in a basic way, with a guy looking for someone, which makes for good episodic storytelling. The biggest difference is that there is hardly any comedy in kiba no tabishounin, but i often would like to read things with similar atmosphere and overall quality.

Arms Peddler feels like a more mature version of Kurohime. The main characters are much alike: A white haired woman followed by a younger guy, because she saved his life. Additionally both mangas have a steampunk/ western setting.

Both have a far west vibes in it, and both stories are about a boy who's travelling with a woman who is older and far stronger that him. Machina and Garami character are alike. Both have a past which is bothering them, both are rude and strong, both fight with a old gun; both have blond hair, and have a haughty personnality. Soona and Luke are also a lot alike. Both have their family killed, and are following a strong female character, both are young, with dark hair. The main and big difference is that Luke is crybaby, and Soona a boy who's mature, brave, more  read more

Kiba feels like a more adult version of Tegami. They start off with a young boy who loses his family, and is taken around by a rather stoic adult. This adult works a maligned trade (as a letter bee, arms peddler). They explain that their wares are ambiguous: they can be used for good or evil. Weapons can be used to kill, letters can be used to tell lies or hurtful truths. The boy's eyes are opened to the truth of the world he lives in. Have a similar steampunk/Western style.
