A fairly average early Tezuka manga that explores some western themes and elements. Any western after pretty much contains most of what this manga contains, and really any apocalypse style mangas. As a result there is very little to chew up that you wouldn't have experienced before, and thus the value of this work is mostly historically. The characters don't really stand out, even in contrast to Tezuka's earlier characters like Mimio, or others of his reoccurring cast. The heavy leaning on western tropes that most "westerners" would be familiar with but lacking some of the nuance of the later spaghetti westerns makes a work ... like this fall flat for me.
