Bishounenized desecration of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland: The Badly Drawn Smut Boogaloo
The new worst Kuni no Alice manga I’ve read (so far). It is my usual complaint that even though the marketing indicates that Alice is female lead, she ends up in the role of damsel in distress way too much. Well, in this manga it’s the prevalent theme. Pretty much the whole storyline (if it could even be called such) is Alice stumbling into dangerous situations and having one or more of nearby bishounen characters save her, then getting into steamy situation with said one or more bishounen characters. this reads like a shitty Harlequin novel. Yes, not just like an average Harlequin novel, like a shitty one – that’s the level of bad we’re talking about.
One would expect the content to at least focus on the pairing including the titular character, but no, Gray feels as much as a secondary character as everyone else in the manga as the story gradually attempts to pair Alice with every named character she encounters, cheapening already cheap pairing scenarios. You could even say that Gray gets less screentime than some other characters.
The art is awful. It makes me wonder how the fuck did the author manage to even get the job. The author himself was probably also much surprised by this, so much that they chose “Job” as their alias. Good for them, I guess, but the result is still awful. It looks like somebody deep-fried a storyboard.
I would also like to mention that this spin-off is very short. So short that almost fourth of the volume is completely unrelated short story from a completely unrelated franchise Crimson Empire. If you aren’t familiar with that franchise, too bad, quarter of the volume is worthless to you. Well, not like it’s any good even if you know it.
So yeah, this one is definitely a waste of not only time, but also money if you were unfortunate enough to have bought your own copy.
