Kanon is the manga adaption of Key's Kanon PC game:

Story: 10
To make this brief, Kanon is about a guy (Aizawa Yuichi) who started living in a town, where he meets lots of chicks and had fun everyday. Every chapter of the manga is dedicated to one chick, where their entire arc from the game is summed up and "manga-nized". This Manga is all joy. There are a lot of cute and funy bits and most of the sad moments are taken out.

The art, while unrealistic, is cute and cuddly. The art is very lively and informal, perfect for leisure reading.

Do you like Kanon and are considering reading the Kanon manga? For the love of God! Don't!

The source material is the Kanon visual novel. Thus, the manga is just another adaptation and not the source material.

If you read it independently, you will be bewildered because the chapters don't flow. It's just discrete arcs.

The complete volumes were published months after the original TOEI adaptation of Kanon in 2002. I suspect that the manga is supposed to be read after watching the anime and/or playing the visual novel. It is something one can physically read and visit individual arcs.
