7.4/10
Initially, I thought this manga was just another idol x fan wish-fulfillment from its synopsis. However… ah who am I kidding, I still think it is, but the story is rather engaging due to it exploring two depressed and parasocial individuals.
Surprisingly, the plot is rather unique, as it doesn’t focus on the wholesome side of an idol x fan romance but rather covers darker subjects like self-image. Occasionally, the plot does come off as edgy or unserious regarding depression or breakdowns, but it’s not too jarring.
The plot spends quite a lot of time fleshing out characters before introducing the main plotline or romance,
...
which might annoy some people, as it frames a slow-moving story. Though the pacing is a bit slow and sometime abrupt, it fully fleshes out the main cast, which is better than not.
On a side note, there’s also an age-gap between the characters, which isn’t emphasized much at all in the plot.
Putting aside some cringe interactions between the mc’s obsession, this manga is surprisingly engaging, as the fmc and mc do get a proper introduction, and the story holds promise from its more unique approach on the idol x fan genre.
