For both manga, there's a slice of life theme involving cute girls doing cute things. But perhaps what makes both titles entertaining to read is the execution of its humor. They don't follow any serious storyline but rather than daily lives of these girls and the activities they do. Furthermore, the main cast of both Yuyushiki and Non Non Biyori has many humorous conversations regarding school, life, and anything out of randomness of value.

There's a very charming innocence when it comes to the way Non Non Biyori and Shirogane no Nina are presented. Both series has a relatively small group of characters. However, the main female characters have great curiosity revolving almost everything around them. There may be no overly complex story plots but the countryside feeling that both series offer is undeniably breathtaking.

They are both iyashikei, slice of life series full of peaceful, growing feelings about girls in a country town living the "small town life". Non Non Biyori is more a coming-of-age, moe/cute-girls-doing-cute-girl-things series though while Little Forest, a manga about a city girl who moves to the country to cook and live off the land, focuses on agriculture, cooking, and self discovery. It would be nice to see an anime adaptation of Little Forest.
