From the same mangaka of "The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife", comes a polar opposite manga: a convicted felon on the run and a man-eating yōkai fox. This newlywed couple must deceive each other to fulfill their selfish survival needs. What could possibly go wrong?
The story follows Rokusuke´s (a human male) and Kohaku´s (a female yōkai fox) daily life together as a newly married couple.
On the surface, they seem like a loving pair, but beneath that facade, they each hide their true intentions, wrapped in layers of lies. Despite this, there’s a strange undeniable connection between them, a twisted sense of love where
...
neither fully trusts the other, yet both are irresistibly drawn to each other’s secrets.
Their dynamic is toxically catchy—you know it's all lies, yet you can't help but yearn for them to actually fall for each other. Honestly it´s really good and those character designs really fit their personalities quite well.
The art and atmosphere are nicely done, however I really would have liked to see a similar use of colour like in "The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife". The blue panels in that series made certain scenes feel more memorable and impactful.
Overall, it’s a good read, as this story stands out from the norm of similar manga. The only downside is the irregular release schedule.
