Minor plot spoilers.
I’m a fiend for any manga that has a yandere in it, but for some odd reason, this manga just didn’t click. The yandere, the fmc, was mostly fine — her twist was nice, and she did the usual yandere cliches, but it wasn’t remotely as entertaining as you’d get from any other crazy girl story.
I guess the main issue of this manga was that every single detail was just.. subpar — the plot and the characters were just “ok.” The plot contained a lot of twists in each chapter, but there became so much that it sort of became an
...
annoyance due to how it couldn’t completely focus on one detail and flesh it out, instead of adding more mystery on mystery.
Speaking of the mystery aspect, it’s a murder mystery — surprise, not surprise. The manga is very direct on how it treats this aspect, which I initially loved since it didn’t draw out the usual plot points, but I’ll be honest, the mc ruins a lot of the experience.
Yes, this is supposed to be a romance manga (I think?), so the mc and fmc need to be equally important, but the mc is another spineless protagonist that ruins a lot of the tension or just plain enjoyment. He’s one of those characters purposely made out to be hopeless, and the fmc hand holds him to the plot’s end, but it’s just not enjoyable. His actions and reactions are inconsistent towards the fmc and side characters. For example, he just casually brushes past his childhood friend’s “disappearance” once it was explained a little. You’d think he’d be a bit more … I don’t know, emotional?
I’ll have to give the author some props since it’s clear he did try to make an interesting plot and characters with his twists, but there’s just minor holes and annoyances that doesn’t make the story very enjoyable or engaging.
