Spoilers for both the Omori Manga and Game.
Omori has an interesting premise that makes attempts to tackle the ideas of depression, suicide, forgiveness, guilt, and anxiety. The manga, which is based off the game, tries to put the game into a different medium for people to consume, but translating from one medium to another would be extremely difficult for the original author who made both the manga and the game, and a video game by heart has you literally interacting with the other characters, making you feel more immersed.
The manga is an attempt to retell the story from the game in manga form. The first

chapter of the Omori manga does a pretty good job with the introduction of the characters by showing one of the endgame scenes in the first couple of panels, though compared to the game, it completely removes the headspace sections of the game and goes directly into the real-life sections of Omori in the manga, which doesn't help too much with conveying the characters and can butcher other characters development without having the foresight from the original headspace sections. An example of this is with Aubrey's character, as now she is displayed as a complete douchebag in the real-life section; emotional shock is also removed from her character compared to the game, as now it looks like she is just a stain on the universe without the original headspace sections from the game. though later chapters help improve her character a bit, this is just the biggest offender.
The transitioning into headspace right after the Aubrey fight can also be a bit strange as in the game its obvious what headspace is and what it isn't and the same goes for the other transitions and not just this one. The psychological horror within the manga is great and works well in most chapters it gets used in with the first example of it being when Basil was swallowed by 'something' and when omori was inside the barn.
Another thing is that the pacing in the Manga feels nonexistent/too fast (when compared too the game that they are basing it off) and the way they incorporate in game elements such as the combat system is pretty strange.
The manga is alright all things considered, it does somethings well but translating media from one median to another would be difficult. I would just tell people to play the game instead of reading it or at least read it after playing the game. At the time of writing this the manga isn't complete and maybe it will get better when more chapters release.
I will update this as more chapters release.
