Interesting setting, fun main character dynamic, great art, better ending than most cancelled series.

I recommend this, even though it barely sticks a landing within the last 4/5 chapters after it becomes clear that it's not being continued. It's a cool relationship to have for a series to have the #1 strongest enemy in the enemy's group as your main companion! It led to some thoughtful dynamics - 100 will defend Ashibi at almost any cost, but she doesn't want to destroy the only Fabricant that can fix her. How do you proceed when you can't rely on your partner to end the danger your society ... is in?

They don't cover that in much detail after the fact, however, in a rush to get a power system in play and a new arc started to keep readers interested. Still, I loved the art and the characters were interesting enough to keep me going. A shame it's gone, but it's much better than most cancelled series of a similar length.

Jinzou Ningen 100 was an interesting manga. From the start it had a premise which instantly grabbed you, the dynamic between its two leads is one inherently fraught with unease yet with the potential for interesting growth, while the idea of hunting the remaining 99 Fabricants made for a solid Villain-of-the-Week setup. And for its first few chapters, it was rather decent. The Fabricants were consistently unique and interesting opponents, Yao and No. 100 were fun to follow, and the subtle development of the setting made was neat to see.

The problems came, however, when the series strayed away from the formula and towards a ... more directly serialized narrative. To put it simply, the emergence of the larger plot came too early and unnaturally, feeling like it was trying to shake up the status quo when the status quo was barely even established yet, and weakening the series' overall consistency as it tried and failed to juggle the relatively unique fights against Fabricants which initially defined the series' identity with the ongoing plot which relied on highly cliched and poorly utilized Shonen Battle manga tropes.

Worse was what this did to the character writing, as attempts to shake up the two leads' relationship and develop their characters were often inconsistent or ignored, and the heavy expansion of the cast made the direction pulled the series' attention in too many directions and left almost all of these new characters uninteresting and underdeveloped.

That's not necessarily to say that these portions of the series were terrible, per say. Even at it's worst, the series was nothing offensively awful, the pacing was surprisingly tolerable, and there's at least one notable Fabricant fight/mini-arc in the series' latter half that I think was genuinely great and an insight into what the series could've been if it was more consistent and even.

It's very clear to tell in many respects that the series was facing cancellation and the writer was forced to rush through too much of the story he had planned, and for that, I have nothing but sympathy for Daisuke Enoshima. If nothing else, I can respect that he was at least able to properly conclude his story and wrapped up every loose end in a generally satisfying way, even if the buildup was very uneven and rushed. Additionally, the artwork was great, with unique character designs, action that flows, and some absolutely visceral visuals which perfectly compliment the manga's tone.

In the end, Fabricant 100 isn't exactly a good series, but it is an interesting one, and I don't regret reading it. There are ultimately a lot of things to appreciate and some readers could find themselves enjoying its high points as long as they're able to tolerate its inconsistencies.

Beware of spoilers from the first couple of chapters.

The story for this manga is simple but by no means not interesting. We start with the story of a doctor who is searching for the key to making the "ideal human being." He constantly attempts to perfect his methods, but never seems to land on the essence of perfection. Eventually, he makes 100 fabricated humans ranked in the order of their creation with all different traits and abilities. Unfortunately, the doctor randomly dies causing the fabricants to attempt to achieve the doctor's goal, except in a gruesome way. By stealing the body parts of the ... dead they attempt to strive for perfection as they see it.

Now for our protagonists. The main male lead, Ashibi Yao, is the son of a family who is known for their longevity. As his family was a prime target for the fabricants, they were easily massacred and their body parts were stolen. In a last-ditch effort, Ashibi Yao made a deal with the female lead (fabricant #100) to sell his body to her when he grows up fully at the age of 18, but to solidify this offer she must agree to help him kill the rest of the fabricants. Therefore, they go on a journey together and search for fabricants to kill so that Ashibi can seek revenge for the deaths of his family members.

Although this manga's intro seems promising there are several glaring issues, however I'll start with the good.
-The fabricants seem to have a good power system and abilities.

Now that that's out of the way we can focus on the bad. Firstly, for a manga that is supposed to cover a darker topic, the art style is too friendly. Instead of opting for a more serious and detailed imagery, there are far too many scenes where the character's expressions are portrayed in a cute and friendly manner. It's difficult to take some of the scenes seriously when the characters you're viewing don't even seem afraid. Next, there is a problem with the relationship between the Ashibi and fabricant 100. Despite being part of the group that murdered his family, Ashibi clears seems to not resent her in the slightest. Wouldn't you think a 14-year-old would at least become more detached socially or treat fabricant 100 more aggressively after witnessing his whole family die before him? Nope, at least not to Ashibi. This could definitely be resolved by the idea that a year or so has passed since the massacre, but then that leads to the next big problem.

By seeing Ashibi's height and size it seems he has definitely grown since the flashback from the murder of his family. Also, during the murder of his family, it is visible that at least 10 fabricants were killed through the large ariel panel. Now we also have to realize his family was rated A as a target so we should expect at least 20-30 more fabricants should have been in the area or at least should have come to the area after so much blood was spilt (because they have very keen senses). Plus we could assume that he killed 10+ fabricants between the current timeline and the flashback... The problem is that's not the case in the slightest. Following the ending of the first chapter, we see that Ashibi and #100 have only killed a measly 17 fabricants. This makes no sense whatsoever and errors like this make it hard to believe that larger continuity issues will not continue to occur throughout the rest of the story. Also considering the age of our mc, the manga might end up being rushed or there will only be a big arc where multiple fabricants are killed to make up for the lost time.

NOW for the last and probably most problematic issue. If the fabricants are searching for perfection then why do they kill humans and not each other? In chapter 1 we are introduced to a fabricant with super speed and in chapter 2 we are introduced to a fabricant with insane lung capacity. No human would ever have such abilities so it seems incredibly unreasonable to attack humans who obviously have weaker abilities. Obviously, Ashibi's family is partly an exception due to their longevity, but as this story is very new its very likely that other fabricants may have equal or better abilities.

these are just a few of the issues within the first couple of chapters (except I did not mention how a 14-15-year-old is somehow able to accurately throw a pen through meters of water directly to #100's and if that was not difficult enough the water did not damage the paper. He obviously is superhuman) but honestly, I could have missed more. For there to be this many problems off the bat is scary as each next chapter might muddy the waters as opposed to being constructive to the overarching story. I definitely can not recommend this story because it does not look like it is going in the right direction. Even if these issues get patched in the future, it is going to mean that important chapters will need to be sacrificed to try to remove plot holes (which is probably impossible at this point). Obviously, this is very early to make a final verdict so choose to continue if you wish but I personally can't bother reading anymore.
