Both have very different plots but are similar in many ways. The artstyles of both are unconventional yet hold the story up. The familiar atmosphere of "the strong yet humble samurai" and a unique cast of characters we come to love in the backdrop of Edo japan. Takemitsu is a bit more abstract and artistic with more fights while House of five leaves focuses more on the story and seldom has any action. But the ambience is familiar while reading both

Samurai-centric manga that focus on fighting spirit and warriors' philosophy as well as action. The protagonists in both are compared to wild beasts by people who are in their prescence when they fight.

Visualizing, symbolic aspect that droves what lies within the nihilistic suicidal conflict by our own main character embodied with delusional and fear beneath him.

Both titles are heavily rooted in the culture of the Edo period and both have a tranquil, dreamlike atmosphere.

Pasts twisted by the dark feelings over spilled blood haunt the expert swordsmen protagonists in both manga. As they struggle to leave their pasts behind them by committing themselves to promoting the good of society and holding a blade against the violence promoted by evil men distorted by the bloody revolution. These two manga are a must read for every reader out there.

Takemitsu Zamurai is a beautiful story about a talented samurai. He is a friendly and strong person. The manga is light at time, has good action sequences and also doesn’t hesitate to show death. Also it has a unique art style. Artist- Matsumoto Taiyou. Ichigeki(one strike, one kill) is a manga where peasants are recruited to form a kill squad. These are strong guys, but not educated or cunning. Ushigoro is the MC, he is strong and smart. The art is similar to Takemitsu but more normal. The feel of a so called “samurai” manga is vey similar in both manga. They have mystical portions of talking cats  read more

Similar tone and brushstrokes (in some cases) yet although Takemitsu Zamurai appears episodic at first, as is Mushishi, the story quietly interlinks while you're not looking, it has more of a complete feel than Mushishi-just try both in any case as they are both brilliant reads-but i prefer Takemitsu Zamurai overall
