Preliminary (Unknown/21 chp)
More people should read this manga. There are many reasons to do it :)
At this point,i have read all 10 volumes of Sand Chronicles, realesed in Italy.
This manga became one of my favorite from the start though :)

Story:The story is about the life from a young girl, named An.It is basically a drama-romance,and after all other genres. An,in the start of the story, visits with her mother the village she was born. Her parents was just devorced. An's life gets an unexpectable turn after her mother commits suicide and leaves her alone. The same moment though, she meets her first friends, and the love of her life.An grows up a bit more in each chapter-season.
The ...

Preliminary (10/21 chp)
This manga brings you through the lives of four children. While reading, you can almost feel the emotions that the characters are feeling. This manga isn't a lovey-dovey manga where everything just works out. The mangaka shows you the harsh reality that is life and makes you ask for more. This is a manga that you shouldn't miss reading.

Story: 9/10
At first glance, the manga seems like just any other shoujo manga. As you read on though, the development is quite original. The story is quite believable and could very well happen in real life. The way the mangaka makes it resemble reality was very effective.

Maybe they forgot to tag this under psychological genre.

CONTAIN SPOILERS

This manga has a light beginning but things getting super unstable right after her first break up with the boy she thinks he is the everything she needs. The plot has a a lot of emotions development of a girl from 12 turn 30 years old. As I read through the whole thing in a night, I come to understand the whole emotion roller coaster was due to the psychological trauma she had after her mother committed suicide. The more she doesn't want to be like her mother, the more she becomes. The pain ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (3/21 chp)
So, this is my review for the first 3 chapters I've read.
Honestly, this manga was a little plain to me at first. But I dont really know why it pulled me in. It had a certain charm I guess. I guess it was the way the author can relate it to reality. It's not your typical lovey-dovey, cheesy shoujo manga, where the girl meets the guy, they fall in love, get married and live happily ever after. It's a manga based on how hard life can be, and that decisions can be difficult to make. I'll continue reading it, and hope it'll be worthwhile.

Mixed Feelings
I loved the beginning, it had what felt like the start of a story with some actual depth and characters that didn't fall completely into stereotypical roles of shojo. But towards the middle it just became so... cliché, so... disappointing. Ann goes back and forth between being utterly and madly in love with Daigo and being depressed about her mother. In the beginning she had other characteristics but midway those two things are all she really is: obsessed or depressed. And the side characters that you got to know in the start of the series are suddenly doing things that make absolutely no sense, and ...

Sand Chronicles takes all the usual Shoujo elements together, and cooks it up in a new and refreshing way; it is not full of cliches nor filled with absurd amounts of melodrama that becomes the pitfall of many Shoujo series, and despite some pacing issues throughout the series, it is a well-written character-driven coming of age piece that is recommended for those who enjoy Shoujo manga.

Sand Chornicles' biggest strength is its moving plot. There isn't only one emphasis on one aspect of the story, such as romance (or angst, as the series progresses), and as the story moves through the seasons, it gives a very ...

“Memories are always blinding. They cause you pain… and sorrow.”

As you prepare to move, packing your belongings and separating the valuable from the unnecessary, you stumble upon an item—a photo album, perhaps—that unlocks a cascade of memories. “Look how far I’ve come since then.” You smile, recognizing your growth since those days. But "Sunadokei", or "Sand Chronicles" as it’s known in English, isn't about that satisfying feeling of moving past your old self. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Hourglasses frequently appear in this story, symbolizing the relentless passage of time as we follow the heroine, Ann Uekusa, from childhood through adolescence to adulthood. Yet, something remains ...

Sand Chronicle is one of the manga that made me can't stop reading when I started. This manga tells about a girl named Ann who returns to her hometown with her mother. After a few days in her hometown, her depressed mother finally disappeared and was found to have committed suicide. Her mother's death had a major impact on Ann's character in the future. When she was sad because of her mother's death, there was a boy, Daigo, who helped Ann to rise from adversity. long story short, they both end up falling in love and dating each other. However, their happiness did not last ...

Daaaaamn!
If you are reading this review, don't waste any more time and just get reading, chapters are about 90 pages each, some around 120 pages.
Funny and lovely, poetic and melancholic, silly and simple!

What I just wrote is enough, I would use this space to protest MAL's imposition on my opinion regarding length, I just like to rant, they are cool.
According to its genre, it's a shoujo, but surpassing in comedy and poetic expression. Graphically; everyday scenes you will see sometimes depicted slightly shifted in some way.
Character driven? not really, I mean maybe others would say that.
Story/plot driven? not exactly, no. Not ...
