Both series contain strong determined heroines who face their problems head on. Both heroines have a goal and a career they work hard towards despite the challenges and prejudices they face. Both heroines become involved in the internal affairs of the castle with royalty taking a romantic interest in them. Specifically, the second prince of Clarines in Akagami and the emperor in Saiunkoku. Both series contain a strong supportive cast who have their own stories to tell.  

Two brilliant female leads pursuing a career in the backdrop of a pseudo-historical imperial China. Kusuriya is somewhat episodic, dealing with medicines, poisons, and the mystery cases that comes with it. Saiunkoku is more bureaucracy, politics and palace intrigue, with a smattering of adventure. Both have enjoyable romantic dynamics that are developed well. However, the true appeal are the heroines themselves, who are 2 smart, capable, ambitious, and endearingly quirky young women. Well-written and strong, they are a breath of fresh air among countless poor female characterisation in manga. Both are novel adaptations, Saiunkoku having an incomplete manga serialisation (of the completed novels) while Kusuriya is still ongoing (as are the novels). Similar plot with both main character being poor and they are being hired as a temporary bride for the king. The king in both the mangas eventually falls in love with the main female character :) Also, the king of both manga do have similar characters such as being silly. Lastly, both mangs have the genre of comedy, romance and historical :D 

Both are set in ancient China about a girl who becomes the king's concubine. The two stories are equally charming with beautiful art. 

When I started reading Crazy Girl Shin Bia, the first thing I thought of was Saiunkoku Monogatari. They both involve an Emperor and the woman he loves. Although, in CGSB he isn't the Emperor throughout the entire manga like he is in SM; and Bia goes to a different world, whereas Shuurei doesn't travel to a different world. Both stories have a good plot, with a good about of depth and intrigue. I enjoyed Saiunkoku Monogatari more than Crazy Girl Shin Bia, but I think both are great, and both have similar elements.  

Chinese. Historical. Fantasy. Adventure. Anyone who dreams of falling into different side of world with full of fantasy?  

Ancient China. Historical. Gender Bender. Strategic Beautiful intelligent wise female main character who reflects a path of king. And a delicate romance with a handsome male character :) It's not a cheesy shallow story and the artist's work really stands out compared to others. 

Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts and The Story of Saiunkoku are two fantasy shoujo manga where the main character is a fairly young girl who gets sent to the palace of the setting's ruler. Despite the differing circumstances between both manga, the cheerful hopeful girl and said ruler get to know each other, including the nature of their past and hardships. There is a fairly similar vibe, even though Sacrificial Princess's story is more violent and fantasy-based, and both series also have delightful shoujo art. 

Both mangas have strong female MCs with ambition, trying to stand on their own two feet and survive in high society. Both are focused on their goal, not on love. Both have a group of loyal ppl around them. Whereas in Saiunkoku, Shuurei is more in need of protection and have several guys falling in love with her; in Duke's Daughter, Iris is more admired for her redeeming qualities than romantically sought after. Both have exciting political elements. 

Both historical mangas that are involved with imperial courts, the leading ladies have their reasons for being brought to the kingdom, and are in company of kindhearted kings. 

Lots of similarities..Don’t really want to give too much away...  

They're both from the Historical/Romance genre and deal with politics and love... 

The type of story and setting are very different. But they are both rather feminist shoujo series, with a lead girl who is smart and goal-driven and not generally swayed by angst or emotion. There are guys who are interested in her, but she tells them she is not yet ready for romance. Yvienne in Ciel has a more devious personality.  

Shoujo manga of medium-longish length, in which it seems no one is who or what they first appear to be. If you like lots of characters and surprises you might like them, but be warned, the similarities stop there. 

While the storylines are different for these two mangas (one is about a girl dragged into a book, the other a girl attempting to be an official) the feel of them are very simiar. You have the female lead attempting to lead her people, experiancing trials along the way. Both are surrounded by guys that only want to protect her, and an emperor that is deeply in love. The art on both is splendid as well. If you love one, you will adore the other. 

Both female characters are strong-willed, very intelligent princesses who wan the best for their nations, in order to do so they both marry royalty with that in mind. It takes some time for both of them to fall in love for their husbands, the funny part is that for both of the men it was love at first sight! Saiunkoku Monogatari however focuses more on the adventures of Shuurei (main character) and ZHD is mainly focused on the budding relationship. Both are excellent reads that include characters that will make you fall in love with over and over again.
