The Shogakukan Manga Award (小学館漫画賞, Shōgakukan Mangashō) is one of Japan's major manga awards, sponsored by Shogakukan Publishing. It has been awarded annually for serialized manga since 1955 and features candidates from a number of publishers. Each winning work will be honored with a bronze statuette and a prize of 1 million yen (about US$9,000). Special awards are also occasionally given out for outstanding work, lifetime achievement, and so forth. ![]() ![]() A manga that makes you want to travel when you read it. ![]() ![]() When people try to explain why they love a manga so much, you might find the usual "I love the characters", "really like the art", "world building!!". Which, by no means is a bad thing, but an element of manga that is not very commonly talked about it panelling. It's very easy to confuse composition and panelling, but hopefully this list will help you experience the true beauty of how important panel structure is to maintain consistent flow whilst reading! ![]() ![]() List of SOME mangas that has winning awards in the past. ![]() ![]() List of mangas that I read that had a very unique world, so vast with so many to know and explore that will keep you in awe until the very last chapter ![]() ![]() Worldbuilding - "the process of constructing a world, originally an imaginary one, sometimes associated with a fictional universe." These kinds of manga are usually set in a fantasy and/or sci-fi world, and excel at establishing & showcasing the rules/history/economy of their fictional universe. List was created through collective data from multiple websites of people's answers as to what manga are considered to have great world building. ![]() ![]() Number of sales and date that number was acquired from in notes for each. Some of them I have personally estimated a higher figure than the date says. ![]() ![]() Chill out like it's Sunday with the best of the best. ![]() ![]() Manga that involve the use of magic excluding isekai. ![]() ![]() Manga that are heavily influenced by Dragon Ball / classic Shounen Jump battle manga. Kind of super specific, but hopefully looking at the list you'll see what I mean. ![]() ![]() This list is derived from The Anime Man's "The OFFICIAL Top 100 Manga Of All Time (According To The Internet) Is Actually Surprising..." video. The video goes over the results of an online poll that he created in which people could vote for their favorite manga series. ![]() ![]() Manga with a shounen or seinen with a romance subplot in the background, although it’s not the main focus (plenty of romance fan service though). ![]() ![]() Aviso: não tenho certeza se todos são battle shounen, coloquei mesmo assim na lista pois vejo algumas pessoas classificando eles como tal. ![]() ![]() These series take inspiration from &/or are based on different folktales, folklore, &/or fairytales from all around the world. ![]() ![]() The Ubermensch is that point of balance between the Dionysian and Apollonian. This is a balance between two 'extremes'. Tragic rage surely need be felt but can not be the only thing felt. Love of life in spite of everything is needed to live beautifully forever. Pure tragedy burns too quick and we live seemingly long lives- don't be silly. ![]() ![]() I finished the anime, most likely it didn't cover the entire manga. Time to remedy that. Also includes sequels. ![]() ![]() This is a translation of a widely-publicized poll from 2021. This is NOT my personal opinion, so how about you shut up MAL. |
