I like to classify romcoms in two ways: The extreme route —where there is a huge plot point that shouldn’t even be thought by satan himself — and the safe route. Undoubtedly, the extreme route ends up in a hot burning mess most of the time, but this manga not only employed its ridiculously absurd plot point, but it did it well — too well.
The plot obviously isn’t the most realistic from all of its conveniences and cliches, but that does not discredit how entertaining it actually was. Yes, it is cringy; Yes, some of the developments don’t make sense, but I can’t tell you
...
one time where the manga made me bored due to how bad and good some parts were.
Following its trope, the characters aren’t the most well-built or realistic — which directly correlates to emotional appeal — but the weird and strange chemistry the main cast — step-brother x step-sister — has makes this manga so much better than it should be. Whether through simple comedic relief or actual attempts for development and exposure, the characters become quite memorable and enjoyable.
The moral of this manga isn’t the most heroic, as it is a degenerate read with its extreme twist, but that by no means discredits how good it actually is from its play on the characters and plot done a million of times before.
You guys know this is just my opinion, right?
