Crybaby Next Door is a comic with a strong premise with a very disappointing execution.

Ochiai is an insecure divorcee, and the alleged subject of this comic is her growth into a more confident happy woman alongside our ML Sawatari, but while she does change, there is no actual growth on display. The changes in her character are almost never caused by anything we see in the comic, aside from the first few chapters where her expectations of how Sawatari will feel and react to her contrast with his actual feelings and reactions. Another way you might put it is the growth is never worked for, ... and it feels as if it's happening "off-camera" between chapters more than anything. This makes it feel out of nowhere, cheap, and makes their developing relationship hold no weight emotionally. Their relationship grows not by changes in their behaviour and closeness, but as if going down a list and checking things off, without appropriate build up, or flow.

This is especially problematic for Crybaby Next Door, as it undermines the key differentiator of this comic from similar comics.

There's also lots of interjected lewd scenes that have nothing to do with the story and break up it's flow, taking you out of emotionally impactful situations. This is extremely common in the genre, and I might forgive it in a better work, but here it adds insult to injury. And while I'm picking nits, an uncomfortable amount of this comic is fixated on the FL's perception of her own hygiene.

If you're just looking for any old comfy slice-of-life romance (with a strong dash of lewd desires), give it a shot, but if you're after something actually worth reading, look elsewhere.

I thought I’d leave a bit more of a positive review considering I enjoy the manga.
I’ll start off with the characters:
I could be wrong but it seems the chapters are originally posted on Twitter and as for fun by author Zyugoya who just drew up the main character one day and decided to add a personality and story to her, I can see why people could have an issue with the design I guess but it’s not abnormal to have a larger chest so if you don’t like fanservice or breasts as big as Ochiai’s then I recommend you don’t read.
The ... whole cast of characters is cute but it seems the main complaint is on Ochiai so I’ll put my 2 cents in; I think there is small character development for Ochiai which isn’t bad, as in the beginning she’s clearly insecure and had to go unappreciated in her past relationship.
Once Sawatari enters the picture, we can see more confidence in Ochiai, even if she is still sensitive to the trauma of her former partner.

The story itself is a bit slow in the beginning and the chapters are short. It’s a cute romcom, the humor is pretty meme-like at times which I enjoy. The art also compliments the romcom element with heart warming moments and the comedic effect of Ochiai’s flustered
moments, etc.

All in all it’s a cute and light read.

TLDR: Drawings are cute which is fine for a romcom, premise is ok, execution is so so, I suggest to try the first 10 chapters to see if its to your liking.

Longer version: it starts a bit slow and part of the drama Is seeing how Female Lead overcomes her shyness and the scars of her past relationship with Male lead, its a romance after all.

The good: art is okay, cutesy which is fine for a rom-com drama, expect ochiai's sillyness followed by either cute /sad reactions when her plans fall flat or succeed slowly inching to express her feelings while trying to ... catch ML's heart, the drama part is her second guessing or being plain insecure and having to be reassured sometimes by her friends or ML due to her past experiences.

The bad: There is gratuituous fanservice, just look at her massive gag jugs, author sometimes goes too hard with the divorced koolaid drama and the manga starts feeling like a cope but not enough to drop it entirely.

The way Shoujo/josei romances are written for a female audience is different from what men look for in a romance manga and trying to appeal to both is hard work, this manga is definitively made for women even with the male fanservice, I would reccomend reading at least the first 10 for you to decide yourself. I give it 6/10, not bad.
