You can't help but think of these stories about female detectives in a rapidly modernizing Tokyo together. Usotoki Rhetoric takes places during the heady Taisho era, whereas Kimi wa Nazotoki Ma Cherie takes place in the early Showa. The detective duos have a reversed dynamic as well with UR having the woman as the assistant (with special powers) and KwNMC having our spunky modern woman as the capable detective, but both have a compassionate outlook towards people and a budding romance with their male partner. There's even an adorable cat in both. If you like one, you should try the other.

Both have female protagonists set in a series that has a diverse cast and is optimistic in tone. Both main characters want to help others and improve their lives, and their story revolves around that. They also sometimes have episodic arcs featuring minor characters' stories.

A push and pull dynamic between a female and male detective duo, with the man having a past that is uncovered slowly across cases.

Although Do Not Say Mystery spends much longer on each case, both DNSM and Kimi wa Nazotoki no Ma Cherie have detectives that seek to understand their clients and bring about solutions that give them closure, not just justice. KwNnMC's cases are often lower stakes or played for lower emotional stakes even when they are serious (fraud, etc).
