Given that they were written by the same mangaka, there are several similarities between these two works. The most prevailing similarity is how the protagonists wear particular lenses that determine their perception of life and everything around them. In Katteni Kaizou, Kaizou believes everything is associated with an alien scheme to take over the world. In Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Itoshiki views everything in a negative manner. Both very funny and random.

They both have similar type of humor, although different setting. Also, in both there are characters with some kind of twisted charisma which makes everything they do hilarious.

Both of these comedy serialisations revolve around unusual male protagonists. In Katte in Kaizou, the male protagonist thinks he is a robot even though he is 100% human. Alternatively, in Ni no Maeshii no Tsukaikata, the male protagonist is a robot, but convincingly acts like a human.

Both revolve around the comedic misadventures of characters in a club featuring a male protagonist who is either an android (Kyuukyouku Choujin R), or thinks he is one (Katte ni Kaizou).

Both of these comedy titles feature characters who have imposed upon themselves that they are anything but human.
