Every manga covered by the Mangasplaining podcast in Season 2. Episode 37 covered Moto Hagio's A Drunken Dream and Other Stories, a compilation volume of one-shots. Episode 48 covered The Blood Red Boy by Minami Q-ta. Selections from director Guillermo del Toro's personal manga collection. Biopunk (a portmanteau of "biotechnology" or "biology" and "punk") is a subgenre of science fiction that focuses on biotechnology. It is derived from cyberpunk, but focuses on the implications of biotechnology rather than mechanical cyberware and information technology. Manga that make you go, "What the fuck am I even reading anymore." Usually manga that go batshit insane approaching the end of the story. Kongo Bancho here because of the shark, so fucking peak. Also any Go Nagai manga ever. Includes things like lots of blank space, large scenic panels, little/no text, aloof characters and a general feeling of emptiness. May only contain small snippets of these or the mood may persist throughout the entire series. The manga itself may or may not revolve around vehicles, but they contain vehicles (cars, bikes/bicycles, trains, motorcycles, airplanes, mopeds, etc.) on the cover. This is here to help anyone who wants to check this off for the MRC 2024. |
