So you're coming off of reading Starving Anonymous, then you think... "what? a sequel? okay let's get into it." For those who might have jumped from Kingdom Hearts 1 to Kingdom Hearts 2, there's a leap that you don't understand... something's off, who are these protagonists? What is this world? Why is everything seemingly peaceful in what was a wild ride of a previous installment?
There's something quite juicy about a world that is, to its readers, obviously wrong, but everyone within the narrative continues as if nothing is wrong. So then we peer through the lens of those who would be deemed as misfits, that's

what I value about these kinds of stories. The outcasts and the weird ones are those who can challenge the status quo. Of course, our protagonist pales in comparison to the weird kids he meets, and especially in comparison to the main group of the previous story, hell even the transformed friend in the first story is braver than this protagonist, but I found it quite realistic against the backdrop of wild powers in this sequel. The ending felt quite justified and brutally realistic because in a society that had one belief so strongly for years, then a new ideology is confronted, it's hard to abandon things fully.
In my review for Starving Anonymous, I noted the similarities to Gantz, this one story melds the last arc of Gantz and Starving Anonymous and takes a sharp look at idolatry of the gods/aliens. While I grade the prequel and the sequel the same, I edge this one over a little bit because we do get to see some references to the prequel. This is a wild ride I would recommend with similar art and a larger scale than before.
