Both have a kind of similar feel to them and focus on growth, coming-of-age and love. They're both pretty realistic too, and their art styles have a soft feel to them. They are genuinely such a joy to read and I highly recommend them.

While these manga are very different at first glance, there are a lot of similarities that will make someone get the same enjoyment value out of these. Hatarakanai Futari has shorter chapters with an overall higher focus on comedy, additionally it takes a few volumes to get going. Furthermore, the main characters are neets, which may initially turn some people off. In contrast to this, Hirayasumi starts of strong and remains strong in its storytelling. Both are slice of life manga about a young woman trying to become a successful mangaka. Kakukaku Shikajika is an autobiographical work about Akiko Higashimura while Hirayasumi is fictional but inspired by the feelings it's author Shinzo Keigo had after overcoming cancer.

Both have a character in art school hoping to become a creator one day; in Hirayasumi Nacchan hopes to become a mangaka and in Umi ga Hashiru End Roll Umiko wants to make films. Also both have a refreshing lighter tone

Wholesome slice of life manga that tackle a variety of different themes with an ensemble cast of characters. Both emotional and prone to sudden tone shifts. Food also plays a big part in both manga.

Keigo Shinzo (Hirayasumi) and Inio Asano (Solanin) excel at portraying realistic and lovable characters in real-world, relatable experiences. You genuinely root for them in these stories. These slice-of-life works have characters involved in the arts, with elements of drama and romance that will surely tug at your heartstrings.

Both are very relaxing manga about regular people enjoying a simple life. No drama, no tension, no crazy plot twists, just a lot of positivity and characters you want to hang out with. And both feature a young woman trying to become a mangaka.
