What happens when you mix Rascal Doesn't Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai with the absolute insanity of the first volume of the Empty Box and Zeroth Maria and sprinkle in some shojo ai? You get the absolute ride that is Wasureenu Majo no Monogatari.

Since there is no current synopsis on MAL I shall do my best Without going too much into detail.

The story follows Aizawa Ayaka, a genius high school student who has mastered multiple skills due to her misfortune of living through roughly 5 similar versions of the same day without forgetting all but one as all the others do. After being ... cast aside by her parents and being tired of keeping up her appearance everyday only to find her efforts in vain 4 out of 5 times, this mentally 75 year old 15 year old finds herself transferring to high school only to expect the same mundane experience as middle school. However, by a twist of fate she encounters Inaba Michiru on her first day of a new semester for all 5 of her repetitions of said day. As their friendship slowly blossoms, Ayakas loneliness gradually starts fading as she comes to realize what motivates her to keep going.

I had an absolute blast experiencing the pains and joys with the main character as she finds meaning in her interminable journey to find happiness and as she attempts to find solutions after merciless and never ending time loops. The story can get a little confusing at times but that’s all part of the madness. If you are looking for some solid dialogue and very realistic emotions I sincerely recommend The Story of an Unforgettable Witch.

This novel is a masterpiece in every sense of the word.

It presents us with a spectacularly interesting situation and uses an originality that transcends the ordinary, resulting in non-stop enjoyment. The idea is so unique that, at first, one may not think much of it, but as the story progresses, new things are presented, and you start thinking and questioning, you begin to ask yourself a lot of questions and begin to understand many other things about the life of the protagonist. But on the other hand, the narration itself comes to explain situations that despite having thought of many things, you are pleasantly ... surprised with something unexpected.

The first volume introduces our three protagonists, although one of them could be more of a necessary support than anything else, but the important thing is that in this one we can already see the genius of the author, talking about reality, about theories, using “magic” but with a sense and reasoning that I have not seen anywhere else, about oblivion and misfortune, and about overcoming. It ends with a convoluted dénouement, but it ends up being understood perfectly, giving you a psychological and intellectual enjoyment like no other.

On the other hand, the author distributes the stories and situations very well. Some chapters will tear at your heart to points you thought were not possible, making you question how much a person can really endure suffering. And in others you will be moved with happiness to see that the protagonist, after all, can indeed find happiness.

On the other hand, it contains a rather funny romantic story, very cute and somewhat curious due to the nature of the situation.

All in all, it is a novel that will take you to peaks of enjoyment, but also of pain, and will make you question things that can only be questioned here, with an exceptional execution.
