For my expectations of the typical “We’re not blood-related, so everything is perfectly fine” trope, this manga completely superseded that. Let’s be real here, the step-sibling genre produces some of the worst trash on the market, but this manga actually presents the issue in a palpable and interesting manner from its characters and philosophical approach, which I thought was impossible.
The plot is rather basic with the usual cliches of love interests and characters, however, the thing that makes this manga truly special is the character development that comes from plot points and events. Instead of a full in-your-face type of romantic developments, this manga

This review is for the manga version of Gimai Seikatsu. I read until chapter 7 (which covers whole vol 1 of LN) as per time of writing.
First of all the background is not your typical type of romance and slice of life as it brings two people from broken home family together. The story is slow paced as this is SoL and for sure it will take time for 2 people to adjust in new life. There is not much to talk about here since these 7 chapters (all vol 1 of LN) is simply more towards to introduction of what the future story will ... Jul 12, 2022
Usually, I only feel the urge to write a review if something is obscure and deserves more attention, or something touched me deeply. This one doesn't fit in either of those.
Instead, this review is fueled by hatred and written out of spite. I'm only writing this review to shit on the seemingly recent-yet-common trope of being self aware, with this manga being the worst offender I've come across so far. Frankly, this manga is annoying, and the author comes off as constantly insecure, because they feel the need to remind the readers that "usually in manga or novels this would happen, but this is real life", constantly ... I haven't read the light novel version of Gimai Seikatsu so this review will only contain my opinion on the manga which I've read until the latest chapter, that is chapter 7, as of writing. Let's get into it.
To start with, I want to say that the art is on the prettier side. Characters look simple yet pleasing for the eye. The lines are neatly drawn so everything looks clean. That is the strongest point of the manga in my opinion. The premise is nothing out of the ordinary; basically 'a hot friend of mine suddenly becomes my step sister' and it follows the premise ... A nice and fun little rom-com, slice of life. Not too much going on and its kind of cliché but still a fun and enjoyable read if you like the genre.
Story Story is cliche as before mentioned, but still fun and enjoyable to see where the characters go, what situations they get into, and how they deal with their issues, Art I personally love the art style of the manga and cant get enough. its crisp and clean and the characters look great Characters They characters are simple enough. ... I dont like to review stuff and more so i dont like to review stuff like this manga since i have read so much stuff like it that i just hate but continue to read like this one
BUT the reason i want to review it is because the art is really good for something of this garbage quality that its surprising like usually this type of boring ,inconsistant ,unrealistic beyond japan level of weird stuff (i mean in character interactions)has horrible i mean horribly horrindece art that makes the characters cute and fluffy in a panel and deformed naruto pause level of (mind me saying) ... |
