I haven't read an extremely large number of manga in my life, so this isn't exactly the most profound statement, but Our Blood Oath is easily the worst manga I've ever read.

Absolutely appalling. Even with bad manga there is always something about it that was redeemable - something about the authors work that you can see being a foundation to build upon with their next work.

I feel bad for this mangaka but my god, it is truly shocking that they were given a chance in Jump at all. Their art is awful - well below what should be acceptable in non-gag manga in Jump. ... Their storytelling is not just amateurish - its as if this author has never read or experienced a story from any medium.

I have nothing good to say about this manga. I can't even be kind enough to say that any portion of it was mediocre. It was abysmal from start to finish.

Im not much of a Shounen guy. What caught my attention about this manga is the fact that this is currently the 22th lowest rated manga on MAL. It begged the question: Is it that bad? Well...

If I have to describe My Blood Oath in one word, that would be milquetoast. The characters aren't all that interesting. Their personalities are pretty one note. There also isn't much mystery about the two protagonists to pique the reader's interest since pretty much every bit of information gets told about them in the first chapter. The stories on subsequent chapters mostly boil down to simple 'monster of the ... week' episodes with a little worldbuilding here or there. The fights themselves also not too visually stimulating. The art is just okay in general. It introduces some other shallow characters as it goes on but it doesn't matter since it ends after 18 chapters because the whole thing got canned.

So, to answer the question I asked in the first pharagraph. The manga isn't horrible, definetly not 22th worst manga material. However, it still doesn't worth your time since it's still pretty medicore at best, coupled with the fact that it ends so quickly and abruptly.

It's not the worst manga I've ever read, but if that's the best thing I can say about it, then you know it's not a good sign.

The story is generic at best and outright stereotypical at worse, and of course, due to having gotten axed, there's not really a satisfying ending. Because of the axe, the majority of the story, unfortunately, is setting up for things that will never and can never happen. There was definitely concepts that had potential within that setting up, but the story wasn't cohesive enough to prop itself up. Things happen much too fast, then another random concept gets thrown ... in, explained too fast, replaced with another concept which is also explained too fast...and then it ends. The story also frantically jumps from bit to bit, almost feeling like it wants to be "monster of the week" but then going off the rails of that rapidly into weird in-drama between vampires which isn't totally properly explained.

The art is kind of below par. There are some segments that do look nice, but the majority of the manga looks surprisingly amateurish, with close-ups of characters often visibly looking rough and the monsters looking somewhat goofy.

I would say that the poor quality of this manga is definitely overexaggerated to a degree in online circles, but make no mistake: this is not a good manga. It's not the worst manga of all time, but it's absolutely a waste of time to read it unless you're trying to learn about what not to do when telling a story or just really, REALLY desperate to read everything that involves vampires ever. At its core, it's both boring and below mediocre. Huge skip.
