I'm going to summarise their similarities by explaining their main attributes regarding the plot and story progression. Both mangas are about young girls who face the unknown. An unknown curse/force of power that prevents them from achieving their dreams/goals. Mahou Shoujo is something you watch being watching, thinking it's about cute magical girls but you quickly learn that it's a deep and twisted story. This is the same for Coffee Moon, judging by the characters you assume it's a cute story but when you read the first chapter you see how dark and desperate the main character is. The strange and nonsensical happenings of this manga relate to Coffee Moon. Although Shimeji Simulation is more relaxed compared to the bleak atmosphere of Coffee Moon, they both are about weird and strange events.

Urasekai Picnic is a psychological horror series similar to Coffee Moon. Urasekai tries to inject elements of yuri romance into the very well crafted psychological horror. It has really dark disturbing moments but after it's over it lightens up and we see how the two main characters interact. Meanwhile Coffee Moon is just disturbing and dark for the entirety of the manga so far. The sense of complete hopelessness is a huge part of what the story is trying to tell. In short both are really good psychological horrors.

The desolate vibe of both manga reminded me of each other, however where Girls' Last Tour is about having hope in the worst situation, Coffee Moon is just completely bleak and rather disturbing.

They are both supernatural mysteries that rely on an upfront of moe, cuteness, whatever you want to call it, pandering to the seinen demographic with a darker, more twisted plot. That's not their selling point whatsowever, as both manga feature a more intricate ideology behind them. While Shadows House can be considered a critique of classism and capitalism to some extent, Coffee Moon is more grounded in its social critique: mostly routine and the differences between routines, with some bs sprinkled here and there about the sum of happiness and the like. Really enjoyable stuff! P.S: If you liked the art of Shadows House, I'm sure  read more
