(Warning: regardless of my praises for this manga I will warn that it has a shota protagonist in sexual situations with older women, if this too much for you I understand not picking this up)
I have a hobby for looking for bad manga to read, it's fun how much junk with crazy names you can find if you purposely try to find bad shit. Recently I came across this, Shiboritoranaide, Onna Shounin-san!!, or one of the translations as "please dont milk me, Merchant-san" and looking at the MAL score (currently 6.6 at the time of writing) I knew going in this was going to be
...
awful, but I was pleasantly surprised, so much so this may be one of my favorite ecchi mangas to date.
PREMISE:
This manga stars a boy named Lavi, for reasons that I wont spoil is exploring the large dungeon known as Tartaros. There through some humorous means he meets a beastgirl named Firo, who is a merchant with powerful yet strange items for sale. And she is quite the dumbass.
THOUGHTS ON THE CHARACTERS:
I thoroughly enjoy them, I dont know if I did them justice in the premise section but they are both enjoyable as leads. Lavi, the shota protagonist in an ecchi manga, I was prepared to despise him, but without getting into spoilers I like him alot. Lavi is a fantastic case of a weak protagonist, his stats are low (its one of those mangas with videogame-like stats but theyre normally used for gags) but he makes up for it by cleaverly using Firo's items to his advantage. Something I particularly like about him is he doesnt forget about the items he has, something that was introduced as a gag earlier in the manga can be used in fun ways. At certain moments he becomes a little badass and is able to take control of a situation, but he is still a young boy and this is not always the case.
Firo is the female lead, the pink haired fox girl who is without a doubt the best girl even if she is an absolute dumbass. Firo at times may be obnoxious to some but I thoroughly enjoy whenever she appears as her constant antics get her or people around her into silly and lewd situations. There is a little bit of nuance to this big tiddy dumbass, that occasionally appears and under all the loud teasing she is a real sweetie, though it takes a bit of time for this to show and I can see many assume that she is nothing more than a selfish bumbling idiot only good for sex appeal. Some of my favorite moments in the manga are particularly when Firo and Lavi execute a plan together, she's a blast to have around.
I do not want to go into the rest of the supporting cast as I would consider it spoilers, but there are many fun recurring characters, including some bombastic rivals and a batshit insane family member. One interesting thing to note is there are plenty of enjoyable male supporting characters, which for an ecchi manga is quite suprising and does display that this holds more merit than just glorified fap material.
THE ART:
The art needless to say is excellent, it works perfectly for the ecchi gag style its going for, with characters looking silly when they need to, and sexy when they need to (the author gets very creative with many of these scenes).
An interesting point to note is the action scenes are surprisingly good, Lavi being weak and relying on strategies with these wacky items lead to pretty crazy situations. Additionally, the monsters all look great, goofy in silly situations to down right terrifying in others, normally with some fun gimmick.
THE STORY:
Again not to spoil, but despite being a gag manga there is a consistent, forward moving story that while nothing deep or meaningful, its fun and it knows exactly what it wants to be. I think the consistency and callbacks to previous chapters do a fantastic job in keeping thinks strung together.
CONCLUSION:
I personally adore this manga, it is not perfect for sure, and you could probably poke holes in concepts or execution of things, but in the end it is ultimately trying to have a good time and I think it succeeds with flying colors. Come for the boobs, stay for the fun action, humor, and boobs
