These are series you can read all within 2 volumes! All genres/demographics!
None of these series are OOP (out of print) and can be easily purchased at a local bookstore.

• Omnibus releases are not considered one volume and are instead counted by tankoubon release.
(VIZ MEDIA released "All You Need is Kill" in a single book; Japanese release has 2 volumes).
• Sequels or spinoff series are not included.

always open to more suggestions to fill this stack up!

The joke here is communication about these is kinda weird unless specified that the response itself is the title.
"What's your fav manga?"
> Undecided.

Or if someone tuning in to a conversation between weebs would be extremely confused about it either by controversy or u sounding illiterate af:
> "My favourite manga is In Hand"
> "I love Children" ☠️☠️

I will also include series that are difficult to search and result in the complete opposite. eg;
Searching "Goth manga"
> The manga itself doesn't show, only images full of Misa Amane lmfao

This list will always be in alphabetical order.

If the ratings on my profile tell you nothing else it should tell you this; I am very a harsh critic. My average for animé and manga are both in the 5's and, considering how many titles I've completed, will likely always be there. If I rate something a 6 or higher I really do think it's worthwhile. So everything in this stack is something I would recommend at least trying.

This stack is for all of the "cute girls doing cute things" manga that I have rated 6 or higher. This includes currently published manga that will be getting a 6 or higher from me, unless something changes, when they end and I finish reading them. I don't officially rate a series until I've finished it, so I've added a temporary rating in this stack for any series I'm currently reading. This stack will be updated as I find new titles. As I am still very new to the genre this stack is guaranteed to grow.

Manga written to make you think, reconsider, or feel a strong sense of pondering.
Typically the characters are also questioning things and have long conversations about many topics.

"Often considered to be untranslatable, mono no aware refers to the bittersweet realization of the ephemeral nature of all things. It is the awareness that everything in existence is temporary. The fleetingness of youth, the fading of romance, and the changing of seasons are not to be mourned, but cherished and appreciated in their impermanence, for that is where their beauty comes from." There are many mangas that tell the story of characters who try to achieve their dreams in the world of art (in any artistic field).
Here I have collected all the mangas of this genre that made my heart beat.
Are you ready to be overwhelmed by the passion for art of all these fantastic characters?

Collecting manga can be really hard on wallets and the average right-to-left reader. So whether or not you want some short reads or something for your collection that will be easy on your bank account, here is a selection of underappreciated short series to explore your horizons with!

This will contain mostly one and two volume stories, but maximum English volume length will be three to four volumes. Official and COMPLETE English physicals must be available, so this stack will not have partially translated manga like many of TokyoPop's releases, nor digital-only releases like THE COMIQ (please still read that one though!). Most of these should be standalone titles and should be readily available even on the secondhand market.

WORK IN PROGRESS: I will add descriptions later.

Disclaimer: I am a big fan of the fantasy genre and the shoujo demographic. I will try to put all series of all kinds of tags, demographics, and topics here, but it should be expected to see my bias. I apologize in advance.

This stack contains licensed titles that have been OUT OF PRINT and series that apply will be indicated as such. This means it is near impossible to find these new without destroying your wallet, but there is still a chance in the ever-growing secondhand market! To find these older, hard-to-find series, I recommend the following sites:
https://www.abebooks.com/
https://www.alibris.com/
https://www.biblio.com/

BookFinder is also a huge help with searching for listings with bargain prices! To get the best results, look up the ISBN for English prints of series and copy-paste them into the search.

- Just because it has sex and/or drugs doesn't mean it's good. I might be willing to consider rock'n'roll though.

- Characters having a bit more personality than just "designated love interest" might be revolutionary for shoujo, but I'm looking for slightly higher standard than that.

Whatever MAL marks as "shoujo" goes. Suggestions are welcomed.

Mangas that don't compel your (continued) attention with an intriguing/exciting story/plot, but feel cosy & are still interesting enough to make for an enjoyable read during the time you dedicate to it.
These aren't so gripping that you'd stay up until 3AM binge reading or you procrastinate what you're supposed to do to finish them--perfect for bedtime or what little leisure time you have in a busy day.

Mainly slice of life with an ostensibly mundane premise/plot but likeable characters, a relaxing mood and perhaps light comedy; episodic or semi-episodic, or linear plot with slow - moderate pacing; no or low on mystery/suspense/action/heavy drama; nothing very intellectual; clean art.

Stack notes:
- For entries that are my PTR (denoted by “*initial impression”), I have previewed enough to decide to add them here; stack will be updated accordingly upon proper reading or completion of the manga

This list is specifically for the Shojo and Josei licenses Tokyopop has come out with in English AFTER their major implosion in the 2000s, so it focuses on what they've published after re-entering the english market.

I haven't included their disney manga or OEL comics since that's its own separate thing and has its own section on their website. Additionally, a large chunk of their catalog nowadays is BL and GL, and there are lists that have done that work already and listed those out under "LGBTQ+ Tokyopop manga", so I didn't bother to check every single BL or GL to see if they were published in a Shojo or Josei magazine or magazine equivalent. Check out that list if you want to search the variety of GL and BL and LGBTQ+ manga they have published.

*note that Aqua is the first few volumes of Aria that were originally published in a Shojo magazine before the manga moved to a Shonen magazine and changed names.

*Kusuri no Mamono no Kaiko Riyuu/My Contract with the Apothecary Monster doesn't have a MAL page

I tried to compile an extensive list of the English Licensed Shojo and Josei manga titles where romance is a sub-plot at best, if present at all (many of these don't have any romance present).

Part 2-Fantasy/Supernatural: https://myanimelist.net/stacks/57092

This is a list of the Shojo and Josei manga with sci-fi elements licensed in english. Some lean more into the hard sci-fi elements than others, but whether it be aliens, mecha, robots, a futuristic world, futuristic steampunk, or space they will be included. Some "hide" their sci-fi elements or treat them similar to magic, so keep that in mind.

Not Listed:
Tokyo Mew Mew
Hyper Rune
Mink
Sleeping Next to You

Honorable Mention: Nausicäa of the Valley of the Wind
