The Seiun Award (星雲賞, Seiunshou) is a Japanese speculative fiction award for the best science fiction works and achievements during the preceding year. Organized and overseen by the Science Fiction Fan Groups' Association of Nippon (SFFAN; 日本SFファングループ連合会議, Nihon SF Fan Group Rengou Kaigi), the awards were given each year at the annual Japan Science Fiction Convention. It is the oldest SF award in Japan, which was first given in 1970 at the 9th Japan Science Fiction Convention and has been awarded every year since that.

It has been awarded annually for serialized manga since 1955 and features candidates from a number of publishers. Special awards are also occasionally given out for outstanding work, lifetime achievement, and so forth.

The 𝕐𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝟚𝟜 𝔾𝕣𝕠𝕦𝕡, refers to the female mangaka who completely revolutionized shōjo manga in the 1970s, and whose influence can be seen in modern shoujo work today.

The title coming from the fact that many of them were born in the year Showa 24
(1949; for this reason they are also occasionally referred to as the Forty-Niners).

Plus a selection of pieces from the "ℙ𝕠𝕤𝕥 𝕐𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝟚𝟜 𝔾𝕣𝕠𝕦𝕡" who were inspired by these mangaka.

An ongoing list of the most important/influential figures in post-war manga and some of their most important series. In no particular order.

Post-war refers to after World War II. So the list will exclude figures most known for works which came out prior to the War like Tagawa Suiho and Yokoyama Ryuuichi, as well as some figures not currently on MAL, such as Fukui Eiichi.

The Year 24 Group (24-nen Gumi/Nijuuyonen Gumi, also called the Fabulous Year 24 Group/Hana no 24-nen Gumi or the Magnificent Forty-Niners), is a group of manga artists who rose to prominence in the early 1970s. They are credited with introducing complex themes such as psychology, sexuality, and politics into shoujo manga, which until that point was primarily simple stories for little girls written by men who would migrate to male demongraphics as they gained notability.

Their name comes from the year 1949, or the 24th year of the Showa era, in which several members were born. Which artists merit inclusion is a matter of opinion, with the strictest including as few as just Hagio, Oshima, and Takemiya, and the most liberal including mangaka influenced by them and those who worked as their assistants.

Inclusion of titles in this list is based on a combination of popularity, notability, acclaim, availability in English, and (my) personal taste. Don't read too far into it if I missed a series you like.

Mangas from different genres and demographies that will most likely leave a mark on you. Rich stories with strong characters and themes, sometimes uplifting, sometimes tragic, but stories worth telling. Beware of the TWs, lots of the mangas presented here contain delicate subjects

Yo besties, I've been having a challenge of reading short manga.
so I thought of creating interest stacks for this challenge.
Some of the manga I've listed in the challenge aren't in MAL so I will list them in the description.
Each set (currently there are 15, and it continues) has 49 entries, and the manga vary in genres and popularity.
All of the manga are 1-5 volumes long, and I would love to see other people participating in this challenge!
(All of these should be scanlated, except for a few)

Manga in this set not listed in MAL:
Neko to Ookami
Shiroi Hon no Monogatari

I wanted to compile a list of the Shonen manga you may or may not have known were written and/or illustrated by women. Maybe some of these titles will surprise you. I'm limiting it to 1 entry per mangaka.
