Level E is an earlier manga by Togashi-sensei; it's sci-fi themed involving aliens living in modern day (well, modern for when it was written anyway) Japan. It's a good, fairly short (three volume) read, that is in turns funny and dark (and made me itch for a crossover with "Men in Black"). What's particularly interesting, and the reason I recommend it to Hunter x Hunter readers, is that Level E has proto versions of some of the ideas used in Hunter x Hunter - the most obvious being Greed Island, and much to a lesser degree the Chimera Ants.

Comedies where a boy meets an alien...and gets more than he bargained for. "Foo" is a one-shot.

What happens when a being from another world (another planet, the virtual world) comes to Earth and spends some time with humans? These two mangas show different visions of how this would happen. Machina and Baka Ki El Dogra both interact with humans for reasons of curiosity, just to 'see what happens'. Also, try both titles if you have interest in the way normal people see this kind of 'visitors' and how they live their lifes while trying to bring them closer to the normal world... Or not.

Level E is more of a comedy then Majin Devil however it still has many similarity's both deal with the paranormal (devils in Majin Devil and Aliens in Level E).

Weird humor that some times make you think 'WHA..?', story line that raises question 'What was the author smoking and hell where can I get some of that?' and finally the satisfying sense of WTF at the end of the series.

If you thought Count D was quirky just wait until you meet Prince Ouji! For the fan of the supernatural who tend to lean towards stories with a somewhat grim undertone, these are the series' to check out. Both have quirky and fun characters and despite often dark and foreboding twists, still manage to offer a generous helping of humor along the way.
