Very similar vibes. Both lean heavily into Japanese folklore with supernatural exchanges. Both have a young man, 'wander in,' and get tangled in the overall mystery of the establishment owner. They're fairly episodic with "be careful what you wish for" vibes in each mystery. Bakemono Yawa-zukushi feels a bit darker in tone overall, but if you enjoyed xxxHolic you'll probably dig it.

They both explains yokais and mystic monster and they are so fun and lock reader to book.

Both series delve into the supernatural and Japanese folklore. Both "owners" are mysterious, distant yet freindly beings. Jigoku Kurayami Hana mo Naki has darker "customers" while in Bakemono Yawa-zukushi it is the owner who is the most "dark". These series share similar vibes, having a fairly similar premise, delivery, and main cast.

Both have similar vibes and supernatural "caretakers". The main location serves the same purpose - providing a base for the MC and a place to get what they want from their customers. In Nightmare Inspector's case it's nightmares since the MC is a dream eater; In Phantom Tales' case it's secrets. Both also follow the pattern of one main story per chapter, with an episodic customer of the week. Although Phantom Tales has a more immediate overarching plot.

Natsume Yuujinchou and Bakemono Yawa-zukushi are tonally pretty different 75% of the time, but share some similar themes. Mysteries revolving around yokai and (generally) personal tragedy are common in both. Bakemono Yawa-zukushi is a lot less kind than Natsume Yuujinchou, and also doesn't seem to be focused on as much character reflection and growth. It has the ghost story vibe though they both share.

both have a Gothic story line and gave have lots of beautiful artwork and handsome men. one major difference however is that bake-mono takes place in japan rather than England, so there's a different style between the two
