These are series you can read within 1 volume, I tried adding as many series that aren't a collection of One-Shots and are full stories! all genres, all demographics!

Range from light-hearted cheerful slice-of-life to dark psychological tragedy.

Some are highly philosophical and can shift your perception of life, happiness, morality, humanity, etc.

List of sleeves for "elitist". These manga have been considered as "deep" animations by various critics and analysts.

In this compilation there are manga with quite complicated stories that are not recommended for all audiences. As they are: cult manga, artistic, experimental, avant-garde, underrated, psychological, philosophical, unique or mind-blowing.

Psychological drama, occasionally known as dark drama or was related to psychodrama, is a sub-genre of drama that places emphasis on psychological elements. It often overlaps with other genres such as fantasy, black comedy, and science fiction, while the genre is closely related with the psychological horror and psychological thriller genres. Psychological dramas use these genres tropes to focus on the human condition and psychological effects, usually in a mature and serious tone.

Psychological drama explore thematic elements such as abandonment, coming-of-age problems, denialism, disability, distorted sequences, dysfunctional relationships, human sexuality, mental disorders, mood swings, odd behaviors, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychological abuse, psychedelic art, social issues, and other serious discussions that unlikely centers themes turn more focused on both issues of the character's life and reality.

Series with a prison setting/theme, either institutional jails or informal, DIY prisons.

This stack also includes manga that are not listed as "Psychological" in mal database but they still have psychological elements in them E.g. Shoujo Fujuubun.

bl as in: published in a bl magazine or otherwise implied by the author (ergo; just because the mc is a queer guy does not mean the manga is bl)

listed with at least one bl the author wrote (either my favorite that they wrote or their most popular)

I was going to add oofuri to this list but can't find what bl the author wrote (tho I am sure that people used to say she had written bl before).

feel free to recommend any authors, just make sure you have an actual example instead of a rumor.

I love reading tragic and twisted romance. So I made this stack for myself and also for the people who enjoy reading them. Hope you'll be able to find something new through this stack ^^

Manga that will break you. Sad comics with terrible endings have their own appeal, and fans adore them.

By the way, by the word “break”, I don’t mean they’re going to beat you. It suggests they will make you exceedingly sad or heartbroken.

These are some sad and emotional manga that have moved me and was able to make me cry. Some of these manga might be completely bleak, some of them have an uplifting tone to them. Hopefully it can strike a chord with you as well.

I will mark the ones I personally highly loved and recommend if you want a good cry with a “🖤”.

These are so meticulously drawn that at multiple instances while reading I had to go back and read the dialogue again because I was too busy staring a hole into the art the first time around and to top it off every single one of them is extremely well written- they're all *good* stories in their own right.
