Synopsis

Miko Yotsuya is a typical high school student whose life turns upside down when she suddenly starts to see gruesome and hideous monsters. Despite being completely terrified, Miko carries on with her daily life, pretending not to notice the horrors that surround her. She must endure the fear in order to keep herself and her friend Hana Yurikawa out of danger, even if that means coming face to face with the absolute worst. Blending both comedy and horror, Mieruko-chan tells the story of a girl who tries to deal with the paranormal by acting indifferent toward it.

What caught my eyes with this manga was the confusing amalgamations of tags.
I went into it completely blind, not knowing if this would be funny degeneracy, a tragic emotional disaster or a wholesome and chill ghost story.

After reading 62 chapters, I am still not sure exactly what Mieruko is, but I know that I:
1: Was engaged and wanted to read more.
2: Had some surprises and was captivated by the art, characters and stories.
3: Didn't regret spending time reading it.

This doesn't mean that I think it is exceptional. I have given it 6/10 for now, which is my high end slob score. I still ...

Solid 7, not as much horror as I would've liked, I went in blind so I was expecting Junji Itou levels.
However it's unique, and the premise is pretty good.
The art is pretty good, my main complaint would be that the main protagonist trio is kinda one dimensional. Just your standard characters from any school anime about cute girls.

Okay, it's a manga about a normal girl that sees ghosts. She has absolutely no character development. I have no reason to care about this character.

There is no purpose to the show. It's supposed to be funny that she sees ghosts and has to act like she doesn't. It's not funny. Even if it was funny, the same joke done 1,000 times is no longer funny.

I have no idea what other people find compelling about this series. It's absolutely dreadful. I can't believe someone actually made it into an anime.
