There are many supernatural mangas that I love, however, these are the ones that not only do I love, I consider them truly unique whether that be referring to the world setting, story concept, or characters. Horror is a genre that you cannot experience with any other one. Even the thriller genre doesn’t give us chills as the horror genre does. So, just unlike horror anime, horror manga series are worth reading. Just manga that are creepy af. Good writing is optional. DECENT writing is optional. The spook is all that matters. Stories that are melancholic and sad, but have a hopeful outlook at the same time Slice of life manga involving things like death, suicide, murder, depression, anxiety, paranoia, racism, survival, dark secrets(ex.cloning), loss/decline in/of civilisation etc. Manga with a shounen or seinen with a romance subplot in the background, although it’s not the main focus (plenty of romance fan service though). Dear Gothic Lolita lover when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth? Bored of action mangas? Im doing this one for the boys back home you feel me kuh? These series are known for their deceptive usage of cute covers, characters, and designs. A varied list of horror manga for those who are just now getting into the genre, I will refrain from listing obvious authors such as Junji Itou, as I feel that is low hanging fruit and it would consume most of this list. Series that have gothic and/or vicrotian or edwardian feel/setting/aesthetic. Periods like 19-century Europe and French Revolution are included! |
