My first reaction while reading the beginning few chapters was ... I've never read anything quite like this before, and I don't mean that in a bad way.
I read the story description first and thought, 'an old woman transforming into a magical girl? get outta here!'. And while the themes aren't as fully flushed out as they could be, this manga does present some pretty thoughtful questions. Having a sweet grandmother become a magical girl is a adorable concept and it works surprisingly well! It's a great twist on the magical girl genre as the traits that magical girls typically have can be found in a grandmother, caring, supportive, loving, friendly and many more. I really adored the art style and especially the designs of the magical girls themselves, especially Clover. The art style takes heavy inspiration from 90s magical girl anime but puts a nice modern twist on it!
