This manga basically has a guy who acts like a girl but might be a girl but is most probably a guy and his relationship with his childhood friend.

The manga confuses me every time I look at this trap? girl? I don't know at this point and it honestly doesn't have many good features besides the fact that it avoids many romance troupes.

The manga is C-Tier at best and it really has nothing special or good going for it but I found myself making a review for it anyways.

I honestly wouldn't spend the time reading it but it's up to you.

Disclaimer: If you liked Najimi from Komi Can't Communicate, I would recommend reading this as if it was based off of that. It's similar.

My enjoyment for this manga, and the actual quality of this manga... is completely different. This manga is rated 6 stars and I don't believe that there is a review over (5) stars. It's understandable.

First, the concept of this manga will turn many people off. The idea of basing a your story entirely around a "trap" and giving him/her a male love interest is a major turnoff for many people. There are quite a few people that I know (IRL) ... that would be disgusted at this manga, or refuse to even try it. If you are one of those people, do not attempt to read this manga. This manga is pretty much "gay" and the comedy is heavy.

Now, as a heterosexual man why is it that I like this manga? To start, there were quite a few men that read this manga and thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course, they would make "I might be gay" or "If there's a hole, there's a way." jokes in the comments, but I would say that they enjoyed it.

Back when I was still in MS and HS, I would refuse to read anything like this. I had no problem with homosexual, transgender, or traps back in those days, for reading something like this was a big no for me. But manga like "Prunus Girl" opened the doors for this sort of manga, and "Blue Flags" made me realize that manga that featured the same sex could be really good without the abuse aspect.

The comedy is gold. At least to me it is. The story features a lot of... "Hard" jokes. In other words, "boner humor" The title "Amachin is Self-Proclaimed" leaves a lot of us readers confused on if the main character, Amachin is a male or female. I wouldn't mind either, but I would prefer male since it would take away from the story if he was a female. Although I do enjoy calling him a girl more.

Amachin is similar to Najimi from Komi Can't Communicate. They both appear to be girls, sounds similar to a girl, act like girl, and even dress like a girl (somewhat) but is said (by them) to be a boy. This brings up the question for both sides, is Najimi/Amachin male or female? These are question brought in the stories by the characters. And I like that aspect, because there's quite a lot of things you can do with that kind of character.

This does tend to go a bit... overboard with there characters at times. But other then always aiming to give them a distinguishable features, such as making them to short, making them beautiful and extremely weird, or giving them no good qualities as a feature, is a bit overwhelming. But if you look passed that, the characters play off of each other quite well.

I don't know how people got horny (or so they claimed) by reading this. This story doesn't do very many sexual scenes, it isn't trying to stimulate the mind, and a lot of tense or serious moments is immediately resolved with joke. It was just a feel good read for me that had a enjoyable romance to it.

Overall, I would have scored this a 6 if I didn't enjoy. I read because I wanted something lighthearted, and this was pretty lighthearted.

If you're into femboys and 'traps' this is a nice little slice of life.

The manga surrounds a boy who appears himself as a boy but loves messing with people, or 'confusing them' but giving them mixed signals surrounding his gender. Basically he gives the whole 'a guy who acts like a girl but might be a girl'

My personal enjoyment of the manga was a 7.2 stars. It's pretty funny and the humor is pretty 'trap-like', and it has the same concept of Komi Can't Communicate, where every character-- boy or girl-- seems to be in love with him.

The manga does have a lot of boner ... jokes (pro for me, may be con for others), he makes a lot of, 'This makes me hard!' like three times a chapter. Boner humor is basically like half the jokes. It's funny and a lot of these kinda jokes arerent very sexual and what you'll see in a lot of manga (good to see because i had it when they over fetishise nd sexualise femboys as a whole)

There isn't many sexual themes, its pretty PG-ish.

The only con, he might actually be a girl? they make it unclear lmfao

No hate to the mangaka but this is a rlly cringe manga lol. I guess its because of how its trying to be like other manga's???

I'm not sure but I rlly feel like Amachin/whatever is actually a girl pretending to be a crossdressing male.

'Traps' - annoying word, seem to be in everything now, and after a couple animes I feel like all 'Traps' are actually the gender they're pretending to be.

Also, this is just a rlly crappy manga haha~
So basic and boring like why else would he be dressing in the male uniform if he wasn't male?? Also, Amachin, don't talk so ... inappropriately with your friend... ugh.

Overall just read Ototsuku but don't listen to me go ahead and try it out if you want to.
