I think this a pretty solid novel. Very easy to read and follow, in a way where it's actually enjoyable to read, unlike some others... trust me i've read Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou!

I think the most solid points of Kamihiro is 1) Reincarnation 2) Slimes 3)overall lightheardeness 4) heartwarming, soothing familial moments with Jamil family

- Reincarnation -> probably the best i've ever seen in an isekai? usually authors don't big such big of an emphasis on it as Kamihiro's author did. Usually it's just, you died -> you reincarnated. Kamihiro really puts a big emphasis on it, to the point that it all ... actually makes sense (weird right?). I can totally see this actually happening in real life.

- Slmes -> I know when author starts talking about slimes, that's when it gets most interesting. You can tell he really likes slimes and knows a lot about them. I personally didn't know slimes could be this useful and amazing. That slimes can evolve into so many different types and even combine into a big slime.

Overall, I think it's definitely a novel worth reading, though take it with a grain of salt, as I only read 40 chapters so far, but it's enjoyable so far.

Slimes are great. What I love most about this series is the slime research. The realisation that the alcohol slime keeps demanding more expensive liquour, the medicine slime steals the mushrooms the protagonist is farming, the metal slimes dangeorusly roll around, the army of 3000 slimes makes the protagonist OP at toilet cleaning, and an army of 5000 slimes trained in martial arts doing battle against a horde of goblins. The character component gets a 10/10 solely because of the slimes.

Every great moment in this series is related to slimes (or at the very least the cave the protagonist inhabits). The issue is that the ... series occupies itself with so much more. The protagonist is a slime researcher, goods manufacturer, laundromat manager, adventurer, teacher, noble by association, philanthropist, craftsman, chef and so many other things. All throughout this series what I was waiting for him to say was
"here are some slimes that can do this thing, figure out what to do with it, I'll be researching more slimes in my cave if you need me"
The adventurer work is kinda fine because he uses the slimes, but everything else is just keeping me from getting what I want out of the series. It gets a 6/10 on story because it dilutes the good stuff with nonsense.

So ... 7/10, needs more slimes.

This review is based on J-Novel translations and the complete series up through to Volume 4.

It is easy enough to understand, but everything is summarized. Literally everything is summarized. Huge battle? Here's a summary. Heartwarming moment? Here's a summary. Interesting plot point? Here's a summary. It was interesting enough due to the fair quality of the story, but new plot development slows down after chapter twenty or so.

The last book and a half has been dry of plot-A development, and I'm not invested enough in the characters to continue because the characters, though initially interesting, are quickly reduced to paper-thin tropes. For example, two ... powerful warriors join the team. Aside from a recipe, we never hear anything about them again. Like what?

Anyway, 4/10. The manga/anime are a lot better.
