If you’re in the mood for a cute and fluffy BL, look no further. Kimi wa natsu is much like its warm summertime setting- you’ll feel like there’s sunshine warming the inside of your heart after reading it. The characters have a cordial, easy-going chemistry. The manga takes time to show how close their friendship is, making the development of their relationship seem very natural and believable. There is no forced drama. Read this when you feel like you need to cleanse your soul after reading shameless porn-without-plot yaoi. I would also recommend checking out the mangaka’s other works for more sweet fluff, especially “Hoshi ... dake ga Shitteru”.

What starts off as a simple friendship between two moviegoers turns out into something more. If I could describe this manga in one word, it would be "warm".

I've read several yaoi manga recently, but deep down I'm a true sucker for romance, so this manga was right up my alley. What I loved about this manga, first and foremost, was the peaceful setting, realistic characters and believable interactions. It was just so calm and sweet. The characters act like real people- Wataru has his childish side, but he's sensible and easygoing. Saeki may at times feel mysterious, but he too is warm and caring. These ... characters are natural friends and have realistic reactions.

The next thing is the cohesiveness of the manga. The mangaka uses 5 simple chapters to great effect, scattering foreshadowing to create a satisfying story. To be fair, the foreshadowing was obvious and the conclusion was kinda predictable, but when they callback to previous bits it feels really connected. Another thing was the motifs/themes like summer or movies that was present throughout the work but not overpowering. In some manga these "gimmicks" are overused and slowly loses meaning, but not in here. It's not always mentioned, but there's always an underlying presence of summer and friendship/love. The "shared interest" movie thing is a nice touch, it actually makes sense and serves a purpose instead of being included just to have our mains be geeks together (something like F*ult in the St*rs).

This manga is really, really good (surprised it doesn't have at least an 8 rating) and a beautiful, refreshing read.

This is a quiet small but nice read. This is one of my favorite BL books I've ever read, and I'll always cherish it.

This book tells the story of two male high schoolers who share a the common hobby of watching movies. And from there, their relationship develops. This book will keep you hooked until the very last page, adding a little plot twist to the mix which I very much appreciated and wasn't really expecting.

The art is really nice, and the dialog boxes are easy to follow.

There's not much else to add, stop reading this review and ... go read it ASAP!

This is the only manga that made me cry like a baby, I'm writing this during my class and I'm crying just remembering how great it was. Highly recommended. I loved it because it was a story of discovery, he realized how much his friend liked him and how his heart started to race when he was thinking of him, to the point of crying because he wasn't there (a little manipulative if you ask, but-).
