Both contain two characters who, despite having mutual love for each other, let their pride get in the way of confessing. The two works also both make excellent use of narration (in Kaguya-sama's case, narration is used for dramatic effect, while with Sheriff Evans the narrator acts a omniscient snarky commentator on the actions and thoughts of the characters).

They are both episodic romantic comedy manga, where the main conflict is that the protagonists are over-the-top clueless to the point of stupidity (but in a funny and endearing way) about romance. Another similar point is the two starring couples share the same pastimes so hard (in Tomo-chan it's any and all sports, martial arts, and physical activities and in Evans it's busting baddies and gunslinging) that they see each other as rivals (or at least friendly competition), but to any outside observers, it begs the question of why would they consider dating anyone else.

Both stories could be classified as romantic comedies with the emphasis being on comedy - the plot is more episodic and develops slowly. Both are light reads and are very wholesome. The art has some similarities and the female MCs have similar expressions. The characters seem to share their cluelessness in certain situations.

Both stories are happening in a Far West setting, although Renjou Desperado mixes in samurai elements. The main characters are very naive when it comes to love, and the situations then get into are funny. Both manga just give me a similar feeling.

Evans is what Harima would be, had Harima lived in the wild west. They even have similar looks! Both try so hard to maintain their cool, tough, and manly presence, but are actually soft on the inside.

The predominant theme of these two works is the search for a person to love and be happy with, only that its not that simple. Prepare for a lot of twists and laughs and various over the top situations. The lead characters are in similar situations and a share some characteristics. Whilst similar, they do have a certain something that makes them different from each other but at the same time makes them related in a way. Enjoyable reads, they approach the same topic in different settings.
