This is going to be a spoiler free and a short review.

Story:
The story is in my view is unique and interesting. The pacing is without issues in my view and flows really well.

Art:
The art is fine; it is detailed when it needs to be, it is not when it's to make something comedic or to draw attention to. It is endearing and is definitely pleasant to look at.

Character:
This is perhaps my favourite part of Mairimashita! Iruma-kun. I can't seem to help but love every character. When a character is first introduced I didn't tend to like them but that is quickly swept away when ... they mesh so well with the rest of the cast.

Enjoyment:
I binged this all in one night. >.<

Overall:
I love this Manga so much.

I thought I'd write a new review for this manga, since an anime adaption is on the way, and the other reviews are a few years old. I'll begin with a short spoiler-free summary, and then move into a deeper review.

Summary:
Mairimashita Iruma-kun! is a fun school-life style comedy. The art style is somewhat simplistic, the comedy lighthearted and innocent, and the characters are bold and likable. The story is comprised of short arcs, episodic in nature, and there is little to no overarching plot. Characters still maintain the development they received during said arcs, however, so all good. Recommend for a light read, lots of ... potential for the future. 9/10

More in-depth (still mostly spoiler free):
Story: 8
As mentioned previously, Mairimashita Iruma-kun is a comedy manga, and a school-life manga; however I was pleased to find that it is somewhat free from the more annoying tropes associated with the pairing. No major harem plot or perverted misunderstandings here; just a school-life finally free from the ecchi tag. The arcs occasionally follow the typical school-life formula, but just as occasionally deviates.

There is little to no overarching plot, however this does not hinder the manga significantly. Characters who learn and develop as they go maintain their development as the manga progresses, giving a sense of time passing within the story. World building is slow, but consistent, and hints are dropped at a larger, overarching story in the works for the future.

Art: 8
Art is consistent and well-proportioned. The art style is is somewhat distinctive and soft in areas In coloured pages, characters are often well-defined by singular, distinctive colours. Expressions are well-drawn and evoke emotion. The art could be better however, as it is a little simplistic at time, and uses a lot of blocking.

Characters: 10
Characters are simplistic, bold, and likable. Even the villains are enjoyable to watch, and every character is distinctive from each other. Despite being simplistic in design, the characters are often expanded upon gradually.

Enjoyment: 10
This part is more a personal opinion, and I think this part is heavily dependent on the person. Some may think that the lack of consequence-heavy conflict is boring; I however, enjoyed this manga as a light read quite a bit.

Overall: 9
A well-rounded manga driven by excellent characters and lighthearted humour that works well in the supernatural, school life and comedy genres.

Started reading this one a whim the other day since it doesn't have many chapters so far. Demons and stuff aren't typically my thing, so I didn't expect for it to really catch a hold of me, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The artwork seems a little sloppy an clunky at times, aside form more detailed panels, but it's not really a problem since in a way that just adds to its charm. The characters are super creative, fun and easy to like, even the ones that are supposed to be the "bad guys." The humor is well-timed and genuinely funny. There's no lack ... of touching moments, despite there being only 12 chapters at the time I wrote this review. On top of all that, the hints of an underlying plot keep you wanting more. I'm very excited to see where this is going. I definitely recommend this one if you're looking for something fun and lighthearted.

The story depicts the original and unique plot . A human boy who was unlucky sold to a old Demon Sullivan. It is very fun to read and interesting to repeat again.

Every chapters day by day gives a hype and excitement that probably one of the good traits of this manga. Even though, the characters potrayed are very not good at all yet the author shows a lot of funny reactions and jokes that slightly find in other mangas.

Nothing can be done, a first human who settled in the Demon World. The first human who gets a first servant who is the number 1 ... in the rankings of freshmen. The first human who gets a familiar. And the first human maybe a candidate for Demon Lord's Throne.

Everything in the story are hilarious and very much appropriate for kids, adults and also for anyone.

Highly recommended for everyone.

Mairimashita Iruma-kun was an outstanding experience for me. The art was great and new when to detail certain parts which made the series great for me.

Characters were greatly designed but in some parts it lacked like some personalty traits not showing so that the plot continues.

Story of it is still a mystery for me and I personally think in the upcoming years it will develop a lot while it's developing it's pretty wholesome and shows us more than the actual plot.

Overall if you haven't read it go read it if this isn't worth your time then i don't know what is.

One of the ... best things, when they add a new character is always gonna do something important or at least appear more with the protagonist, i love Iruma, great character development and it has his human moments when he cries and we see that hes not Superman that can do anything and thats great, aloso Azmodeus and Clara are great charcters, i love how both care about Iruma a lot :D

A very fun and casual read that's great for when you want something that's easy to digest and pass the time.

Mairimashita! Iruma-kun is lighthearted for the most part with some serious parts of tension that pays off well with moments of hype. The premise makes you believe that you'll follow the story of the MC, Iruma, navigating around demon school while trying to keep a low profile, and while this is indeed the case, the story is more about wacky school life shenanigan and hijinks than anything else. The worldbuilding is very basic and only meets the "bare minimum" due to the story wanting ... to focus more on the characters' actions/ interactions with one another rather than their interactions with the world itself.

There is a more serious underlying plot behind all the slice-of-life aspects that's hinted at, but it's very much in the background and progresses rather slowly, so if you prefer something with more tension and drama in the forefront, this might not be the manga for you.

All of the characters are rather endearing, and while they may start off relatively "flat" when they're first introduced, you start to see their individuality shine the more that they interact and play off of one another, forming bonds along the way that you can't help but love. You watch the characters grow both as students and as characters. It might feel like the primary cast of characters have "plot armour" that kind of removes the tension as to whether or not they'll be able to find themselves out of an unfavourable situation; however, you witness the characters' work to improve themselves that makes you want to cheer them on, and their victories feel well-earned for the most part.

With a somewhat large cast, some arcs tend to focus on more specific characters than the others. Later down the line, arcs start becoming a bit longer, so some parts might feel particularly long and boring if you don't particularly care for the character(s) of focus at the time.

Overall, Mairimashita! Iruma-kun is a good read that's worth checking out if you're looking for something that doesn't require having to think too much. It's pretty straightforward and more or less consistent in quality from start to more recent chapters (331 as of writing). If you prefer something more thought-provoking and/ or serious/ dramatic in tone, I would suggest skipping over this, but if you're more into silly hijinks, you might enjoy it.

Mairimashita Iruma-Kun is one of those mangas sticks with you for a long time. To me, this manga is very unique and it's one of my favourite mangas of all time.

Story: Mairimashita Iruma-Kun follows our boi Iruma-Kun going to a prestigious demon school. The story shows the difficulties trying to hide the fact that he is a human as well as him skillfully befriending every single demon in the world using his charms. This story isn't like many others where the main character is perfect and he is the most powerful person there, it's just a funny story about Iruma-Kun's adventures.

Art: ... Can't say much about the art but it was really good.

Character: The most important part of Iruma-Kun is the characters. Iruma is one the coolest characters in all of anime, being the best female idol in the demon world, being the most badass in the demon world, and being the nicest person in the demon world (you will understand what I mean if you read it). The characters around Iruma, the people from the misfit class, are also very well developed and even the characters that don't play much of a part in the story have a unique personality that makes you like them.

Enjoyment: Every time I see that there is a new chapter of Iruma-kun, I click it. Mairimashita Iruma-Kun is super fun.

Overall: If you don't read this manga, you are missing out on a lot. It may be a bit long, but you will be engrossed in it.

Iruma-Kun, Iruma-Kun, Iruma-Kun. God do I absolutely adore this manga!! It's so endearing and smart, the plot decisions never feel forced or unearned like most shounen manga, and the characters are fleshed out, interesting, and most importantly entertaining. It always surprises me to see that there is such a lack of fandom for the series; it has 3 seasons of anime, over 300 chapters, and has great power scaling and action scenes, especially in the manga. It, for lack of better wording, is everything MHA should've been and more. So, seeing the lack of a review for it on this site, I decided I'd put ... in my two cents on this absolute gem of a series. Minor spoilers ahead, you have been warned!
(This review is up to chapter 278 of the manga. Opinions may change.)


To start, the 100% highlight of this manga, the Characters. I am not exaggerating when I say this may be the best cast of any major shounen out there, every character feels fresh and interesting, even those with minuscule screen time. Asking me which is my favorite is literally impossible because it changes daily, that's how much fun, and how expertly organized this cast is. The biggest thing, to me, is how well done the misfits class is as characters. Every single one has their own struggles, arcs, and moments in multiple different ways, and the focus doesn't always have to be on Iruma.
The Harvest Festival arc is a great example of this, as the time spent away from Iruma to develop the supporting cast is important. A lot of manga try to have characters undergo "development" either right before a death scene or for one big moment and then never touch them again. Iruma Kun does the exact opposite. By utilizing actual time and chapters to each character, they go from classmates of Iruma to individual characters. Jazz and his brother, Elizabeth and her relationship with love, Gaap's stubbornness contrasted with Agare's lack of care. And this is just the Misfit class!! Besides them, we have Opera and Kalego's chemistry, Sullivan learning how to parent, the Six Fingers, and Baal (Who is extremely intriguing as a villain and definitely has the chance to become my favorite character in the series.) Hell, even the fucking obligatory pervert character Caim gets some actual development later on.


And of course, I can't forget BEST GIRL AMERI!! The perfect love interest to Iruma, as she is a direct foil to his subservient demeanor and helps him grow to be more independent. Meanwhile, Iruma helps her grow through his innate kindness. I cannot express enough how insanely great their dynamic is. To sum it up, I would genuinely feel devastated if literally, any character died in this manga, because they are all fleshed-out, nuanced characters that I love. I can't think of another manga I can say that about.


Now the plot, which once again is a strong suit for Iruma-Kun. Though it starts out slow, the great worldbuilding, excellent comedy, and strong thematic core surrounding ambition, greed, and power are truly one of a kind. First off, Iruma-Kun is so intensely immersive in its world. The demon school, rank-up system, bloodline ability power, and political mind games surrounding the Demon King are brilliantly executed. I'm genuinely excited for every new chapter to see more and more of this vast world, and this comes from someone who doesn't particularly care about this element of a story in the first place. Plus, it's consistent, there are no significant unearned powerups, and villain characters are genuinely threatening (Especially Atori, whose presence later on literally makes the manga shift into horror territory for a bit.) Overall, the world and depth of Iruma-Kun is apparent and well-executed, and I can't wait to see what the future has on hold for it.


While discussing the more serious aspects of Iruma-Kun is all well and good, it would be a shame to ignore the delightful comedy and lighthearted fun Iruma-Kun inserts within the narrative. I don't particularly enjoy comedic bits that distract from serious moments, but Iruma-Kun does a great job at knowing when comedic relief is needed vs when it's not. Arcs like Walter Park can have comedic aspects along with more serious moments and still feel like there are stakes and not childish. On the flip side, moments like the end of the Heartbreaker arc don't have any comedy due to how grim the situation is. Along with the excellent pacing of the comedy in the story, it is genuinely funny as well. Sure you have some duds here and there, but due to how much I love this cast I feel like I can forgive them. Alice has this whole indebted-to-Iruma joke that feels both strong emotionally and never gets dry in terms of how it's used comedically. Kalego's deadpan attitude compared to the rest of the Misfit class is hilarious, and when he trolls them or messes around with the students it's extremely funny to read. Best girl Ameri has the most entertaining gag in the series though, her love of a traditional romcom manga contrasts her hard exterior perfectly. Overall, Iruma-Kun's comedy shines forth as a prominent example of how to utilize comedic relief and still maintain a strong story with stakes.


Finally, the story has a really strong thematic core as well, and it continually pops up in the story, that being the differences in ambition and desire that all of demonkind has. An important thing to understand here is that "Demon School Iruma-Kun" is just that; a school of demons. They are not humans and lack a lot of human aspects as well, with all that remains to be a desire for greed and power. Iruma himself parallels this through his altruism, and it's really interesting to see Iruma become more demonlike, whilst his own influence makes the other demons more humanlike. Many people's favorite arc is the Royal One arc, and for good reason. It showcases ambition in an unclouded lens, allowing for our cast to unite as one amongst Iruma through the least demon-ish method possible; diplomacy. This unique way of tackling unbridled ambition and greed is a core part of the Royal One arc, along with every other one along the way. Though it's most obvious in how Iruma goes from a doormat to less-of-a-doormat, there are a lot of other examples of this, such as Purson's ambition that gets in the way of his expected path, Balam's pursuit of knowledge, and most entertainingly in Keroli's desire to keep Gyari under her grasp and control their relationship due to her own greed (Which made for one of my favorite lesbian couples in manga ever.) Overall, Iruma-Kun does not get enough credit for how seamlessly it mixes its great writing with similar motifs, though in general, it doesn't get enough credit for a LOT of things...


Wow... I wrote a lot about Iruma-Kun huh! I was gonna talk a bit about the gorgeous art, but I've been typing for a few hours already, and want to wrap this up. So basically, Iruma-Kun is really great at like... Everything. The only real flaws are a few dragged-out moments or a few missed jokes, but aside from that, it is just so, so good. I highly recommend it to anyone out there looking for a fun, easy read with enjoyable characters, great depth, and... yeah I pretty much recommend it to everyone! Thanks for reading :D

Though I believe the series wouldn't be ending anytime soon, I feel like writing a quick and concise review wouldn't do any harm.

Mairimashita! Iruma-kun is a fantasy(?) isekai(?) shounen-like series that takes place on the demon world. The main character, Iruma, was sacrificed by his parents to a demon, and somehow through some absurd circumstances he became a demon(principal) grandson and goes to his demon school with unique powers and yada yada yada he gets some demon acquaintances and friends through encounters, fights, fate and yada fucking yada. Usual premises that you've heard before, sounds boring, and you're probably not interested.

The earlier chapters ... deal mainly with Iruma connecting with everyone on the demon world with his likeable and straight personality, while the later chapter (right now around 320) is surprisingly the same, with a sprinkle of power-levels and battle arcs!

Now stop. Listen to me. I'm going to explain why does people love this series so much, and the charm of this series lies on the depth and relationship between each character. I've said that Iruma has a likeable and straight personality, but that doesn't apply only to Iruma. How Nishi-Sensei is able to introduce a wide range of characters with ACTUAL personality without fear of doing nothing with them in the future is beyond me. That teacher in the background without any real use? Let's make her the theme of this chapter while developing the other characters, which are not even the main protagonist! With countless of well-designed characters and loveable personalities interacting with each other, it naturally builds the foundation to a great series.

By all means you can still see some of the usual anime-tropes like harem or power of friendship there (which I assume some people don't enjoy), but the actual depth or bond made it so, that it's absolutely tolerable and entertaining to read. My favorite theme from the whole manga would be the term "ambition" and how each demon see them differently, with the main character Iruma fully misunderstanding the term before his encounter with one of his romantic interest, Amelie. Occurring themes like this happens slowly throughout the manga and it makes you understand more how does the demon side feel about these emotions. Family, demon friendship, teaching, greed, you name it. Sometimes it's comedic, sometimes it's serious, sometimes it's very much absurd. I really enjoyed every chapter, even the long battle/character arcs, which bring me to the next point: Story.

Basically, it goes like this. You get filler chapters, then long battle chapters or characters arc, more fillers, short arcs and repeat in random. Even though the first few battle arcs felt out of place, it never really gets to the point where it gets illogical and weird. The story felt planed and smooth, while the filler part does it part best by focusing on side characters. I get how people would be turned down because of the battle arcs being quite long, and could devolve into feeling that the whole series is a bit inconsistent. Depiste those feeling, it pays off with the development of a character and satisfying ending, I have emphasized many times already: The characters are the charm, the story is fun as it is; but it is by all means not perfect.

As for art, I can only say that the wide panels and full panels are breathtaking. May it be cliché transformations or battle roars, Nishi-sensei sure understands what make those things invigorating and create goosebumps.

I don't know where will this series go, how will the series end, and what are Nishi-sensei plans for the upcoming years, but that was an enjoyable read, and I would recommend it to everyone who craves fantasy shounen alike. Don't mind the rough start, it will get better for you. Hopefully.

Heartbreaker arc was amazing and I require more Gaap chapters.

Its the first comedy manga that felt so good. I have read or seen different manga or anime respectively but none felt so wholesome. It was really good. The art style is fabulous. There are a few manga where you get so damn good art style. The story was really unique. I wish I was the one in place of IRUMA. The story gets interesting with every chapter. There is no unnecessary chapters or writing for which your interest goes down rather I was hyped. Among the female characters I like Amu sama( Asmodeus mom), Amelia and IX Elizabeth. Though there is no romance in ... this manga I wish the writer considers it. Overall among the best manga collection of my life it is one of the best manga and the best comedy manga.

I've been meaning to write a review on this manga for a while now, since I'm recommending it to everyone in real life. It is a very good read for those who enjoy comedy with great doses of sweetness and an excellent "found family" trope.

The storyline tells us about a boy who is sold to a demon, who then becomes his grandfather and sends him to a demon school in the underworld. From the very start, we know that this manga is going to be light-hearted and full of wholesome moments. You are not going to find a complicated plot, but rather a relaxed story ... about school life, friendship and finding your place in the world. There are a few battles here and there too and the characters do have techniques. The action scenes are relevant in certain arcs and they are nicely executed.

The characters are, of course, demons and the author does use real names associated with demonology. However, there's usually a twist to each one of them. For instance, Asmodeus is presented as a intimidating demon, but we soon find out another aspect of his personality. The same goes for other many demons, who have deeper feelings and struggles that we may think at first. The character designs and personalities are very noteworthy, although many of them respond to common shonen manga cliches (the parallels between this characters and the ones in My Hero Academia, for example, are more than evident). On a final note, the main character does come across as a "Mary Sue" sometimes, meaning that everyone seems to instantly like him and support him. Regardless, he does face difficulties and struggles with relationships and self-consciousness.

Lasty, the art is simple yet lovely. It's very easy to follow the story and the battles whenever there is one.

In general, I highly recommend this manga to anyone looking for a light-hearted, comedic story with endearing characters.

If you are just getting into manga and this is one of your first ones I can guarantee you will come out of it thinking it's one of the best mangas ever made. That's a good thing.

Story - 6
Very slow start, very basic and formulaic at times, and at certain points very very stupid. Now that last part is not always bad. The issue is that the manga alternates between casual fun with passionate character exchanges and plot points to some absurdly ... stupid arcs and actions when this change is very fast and very drastic it always feels bad.

Art - 8
Here things get exciting from the very beginning there isn't a boring page in the manga. Something visually interesting is always happening and when it comes to art there is never a dull moment. In the rare situations in which a lot of information has to be given to us and a page is taken over by text the next page always compensates for that with something creative. Not even to mention all of the emotional/important moments and how genuinely beautiful they look.

Characters - 9
Yes, they are great and for the most part, they are what will keep you reading. This may not seem apparent from the start and that's because for the first 70 chapters or so we just continue to introduce new characters and concepts to the manga. BUT after that stable base, the manga starts expanding on everything and mostly the characters. Everyone in a class of 13 is given special attention and great moments with our main character. They are all unbelievably great, once they actually get some characterization that is.

Enjoyment - 8
It's just fun. Not fun as in "man I'm dying of laughter reading these jokes". But fun as it this is all so pure and so wholesome I just have a fun cozy time when reading it.

Overall - 8
So it's not a masterpiece of course it's too basic in my opinion to be close to that. However, at times it does get close to perfection on a very casual level of course, which is still pretty impressive.

Even if you have read a decent amount of stuff this will still keep your attention and reward you for being patented with it. If it sounds like your thing, it will REALLY be your thing.

Ok so I began watching Iruma kun as an anime back when it first aired but I then immediately moved onto the manga. I really enjoyed the gang being up to no good and seeing Iruma progress to being the "demon lord" that Sullivan wanted him to be as his "grandson". I really liked a lot of the characters surrounding Iruma like I didnt actually mind at first having a lot of them because they really blended the story well and I always got a chuckle from every chapter as it can be seriously funny. However that all changed recently when the author decides to ... add even more characters by sticking them in there without context and not involving the charms around the story it once had. It was if author-san just completely went to a complete different direction from what I thought was all going to be about Irumas goal. It's becoming even more draggy now which is disappointing because I've read this manga for a long time now like I thought it had potential but nope, not anymore for me....

If you like manga like Tsue to tsurugi no Wistoria and Boku no Hero Academia, then you WILL love this one. I love it.

Perfeect characters and their developments

Story is not so unique (but what is these days), but the world building is amazing. You might think it will be predicatble at the begining, but it will lead you to something else that you wouldn´t guess.
Charcters are perfectly drawed, MC looks like a weakling, but he´s one of the strongest characters in this universe. Their developmenst are well rounded and so their flaws, sthrengts, their inteligence and I also think, they react normally ... to the situations they fall into. They are still at school and of course sometimes need to depend on their teachers. Otherwise it would be boring.

Genre is typical shonen, normally I dont read shonen manga, but this one caught me right from the begining and it´s still one of my favourites to read.

The early chapters of Iruma-kun are outstanding, featuring a well-crafted setting, strong character development, and wholesome, light-hearted comedy. The story focuses on the main trio, with each arc typically lasting for a satisfying 2-3 chapters. Clara stands out as a unique and endearing character, bringing a refreshing take on the 'happy-go-lucky' archetype. Her attempts to break free from her stereotype and showcase a more human side are some of the manga's highlights.

However, the story takes a sharp turn around chapter 100, with longer arcs, new villains, and an influx of secondary characters. While the classmates outside of the main trio are fairly developed, they pale ... in comparison to the trio's depth. The idol arc around chapter 160 marks a significant downturn in the manga's quality. The MC, one classmate, and one other side character, along with a bunch of new characters, become the focus, sidelining beloved characters from earlier arcs. The following arc introduces more new characters, further detracting from the core cast's development.

It feels as though the author has written themselves into a corner, unsure of how to continue the story without creating additional characters. As a result, the later arcs feel cluttered and detract from the core cast's development. This shift away from the main trio's dynamic and the introduction of numerous secondary characters dilute the story's initial charm.

In the end, while Iruma-kun starts off strong, the later arcs are a letdown with too many new characters taking away from the core cast's development. The story becomes cluttered, and the author seems to struggle with continuing the narrative without introducing more characters. This is not how a good comedy or shonen manga should be written, and as such, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend it.
