I've been meaning to write a review on this manga for a while now, since I'm recommending it to everyone in real life. It is a very good read for those who enjoy comedy with great doses of sweetness and an excellent "found family" trope.

The storyline tells us about a boy who is sold to a demon, who then becomes his grandfather and sends him to a demon school in the underworld. From the very start, we know that this manga is going to be light-hearted and full of wholesome moments. You are not going to find a complicated plot, but rather a relaxed story ... about school life, friendship and finding your place in the world. There are a few battles here and there too and the characters do have techniques. The action scenes are relevant in certain arcs and they are nicely executed.

The characters are, of course, demons and the author does use real names associated with demonology. However, there's usually a twist to each one of them. For instance, Asmodeus is presented as a intimidating demon, but we soon find out another aspect of his personality. The same goes for other many demons, who have deeper feelings and struggles that we may think at first. The character designs and personalities are very noteworthy, although many of them respond to common shonen manga cliches (the parallels between this characters and the ones in My Hero Academia, for example, are more than evident). On a final note, the main character does come across as a "Mary Sue" sometimes, meaning that everyone seems to instantly like him and support him. Regardless, he does face difficulties and struggles with relationships and self-consciousness.

Lasty, the art is simple yet lovely. It's very easy to follow the story and the battles whenever there is one.

In general, I highly recommend this manga to anyone looking for a light-hearted, comedic story with endearing characters.

After a long time, I decided to give Boruto a chance. As many, I've been a long-time Naruto fan and had heard how awful the continuation was. I wanted to see for myself and I can now confirm that Boruto is neither good nor as bad as some people say.

Let's look at the different aspects of the manga.

Firstly, the storyline. From the first moment, we are warned that this story will not be about Naruto, but about his son. That's the most important thing that the reader ought to keep in mind. The story revolves around a new main character and the world ... he lives in, which is way different than before. I appreciate the inclusion of technology and how it is acknowledged that this new generation has been born in a peaceful world, unlike their parents. It was them who built this new world for them, so it is not a bad thing that they are able to enjoy their lives as children. Then we are presented with the whole Ohtsutsuki conflict, which takes up most of the story. The issue here is that everything seems to be moving too fast. Not only do the characters get sudden power-ups (I'll talk about that later), but we are suddenly presented with enormous threats, one after the other. This seems a bit too much after the firsts arcs, where Boruto simply befriends a spoiled child or tries to gain his father's approval. It makes the story quite suffocating.

Following this, we have some other problems with the characters themselves. I'm not specifically referring to Boruto, who experiences a nice development over the first arcs of the story. The issue here seems to be that the author is not able to create memorable characters. For the sake of the argument, I will here mention Akatsuki - although it is not my intention to compare both series. What I'm trying to say is that those were characters that left an impression on the readers' mind, whereas no character in Boruto succeeds to do that. Yes, Boruto and Kawaki are good MCs, but the other secondary characters are poorly written. There's no depth to any of them, except those two. Moreover, the older generation seems to have become utterly useless. Naruto and Sasuke are easily overpowered by any villain - all of whom posses crazy, god-like abilities - and Hinata has apparently ceased to be a ninja. This whole "god-like power" is true for the young shinobi as well. All of them seem to have already figured out how to use some truly powerful techniques without even trying. Oh, and there's some poorly written romance as well, which feels very out of place.

I also want to briefly mention how uncomfortable the character design is. I don't want to get controversial here, but I cannot fathom why anyone would draw twelve-year-old girls like that. On the other hand, some characters are well designed, cleverly mixing the traditional "ninja style" with more futuristic looks.

The art is not remarkable. Some scenes do look bad, but not to the point that it makes the manga unreadable.

There's not much more to say about this manga. Some readers might enjoy the new, fresh approach involving technology and some others might not. I, for one, think that it was not a bad approach in the beggining, but to have all villains be super powerful thanks to scientific tools is something that makes the manga less enjoyable. However, it is not as bad as some try to make it look. I would advise giving it a chance and most importantly trying to come to terms with the idea that this is a new Konoha with new issues.

As someone who had never heard about Gokushufudou before, I can't say I was expecting too much from it when I decided to watch it. However, the show soon proved me wrong.

Some of the strong points of this anime are the characters and the voice acting. There are not many characters, but each of them is memorable and plays a clear role in the story. The acting is superb, too. The jokes are well delivered and the final result is a short, cute comedy that you can watch in just one sitting.

The main problem with the anime adaptation of Gokushufudou seems to be the ... animation itself. Although it's true that at first it doesn't look too good, you'll soon get used to the "coloured manga panel" style. Maybe it isn't everybody's cup of tea, but it is worth giving it a chance. As I said before, the jokes and comedy are still great and are not affected by the animation style.

Overall, Gokushufudou is entertaining, funny and sweet. The choice of animation should not be a problem. The anime has other great aspects besides that.

After following this manga for a while, I can surely say that there is nothing special about it. It is just another generic isekai series. The characters feel completely empty of personality. The MC is ridiculously overpowered and no battle is tense or interesting, as he easily defeats any possible enemy. Furthermore, the female characters' only trait seems to be their romantic interest in the MC. No character is especially interesting or memorable. The story is very simple as well.

On the other hand, the art style is quite clean. It is not exceptional, but not bad either.

Overall, this series is fine if you are looking ... for something that doesn't require too much attention, while being more or less entertaining. However, don't expect a masterpiece or a good plot.
