The Mermaid's Guilty Meal and Kumika's Sense of Taste are two manga series about a non-human protagonist learning to enjoy food for the first time—Kumika is an alien who doesn't need to eat food to survive but starts eating after learning its appeal, and Era the mermaid accidentally discovers the appeal of seafood. If you couldn't tell from that last part, The Mermaid's Guilty Meal is probably best suited for those who have the stomach for dark comedy.

Both have have an overarching plot, but also have a "food of the chapter" thing going on where they try out a new kind of food during each chapter. They are rather lighthearted in nature. Dungeon Meshi is set in a dungeon where a party of adventurers tries to rescue the protagonists sister that got eaten by a red dragon. Both manga involve multiple alien species coexisting on Earth. Both manga involve romance between a human male and an alien female. Both manga have slice-of-life elements and "explaining Japanese customs to aliens" aspects. Kumika no Mikaku is a little more food-based and less focused on romance, Yome ga Kore na mon de is a little more ecchi and has nothing to do with food.

We follow the path two people takes while they get closer to each other. Each series use a certain special thing they value to make them closer, in Kumika no Mikaku it's the food and in Bonnouji is all the random stuff in Oyamada room. In my opinon, each series has a great sense of humor, and both gave me a relaxing feel after reading every chapter; and I hope you feel the same way!
