Synopsis

Coco, a humble dressmaker's daughter, has always been fascinated by magic and the witches who cast it, despite the strict precautions they take to hide their methods from the public. However, when Coco takes advantage of a golden chance to spy on the skilled witch Qifrey, she realizes that her favorite picture book was a disguised magic book all along! In her excitement, she immediately starts testing out the various spells.

When a spell causes a disaster in her home, Qifrey rescues her just in time and decides to train her, realizing that she is the first lead he has found that could help him track down the Brimmed Caps—a dangerous group of heretics who experiment with forbidden body-altering magic and spread magical artifacts among the commoners. But before Coco and Qifrey can confront the Brimmed Caps, she is going to have to improve her magical skills and learn to get along with Qifrey's other apprentices.

Twelve volumes in, Witch Hat Atelier is a spectacular piece of work. I fell in love with it from the very first chapter and that love has only grown as the story has progressed. There are two things, kept in perfect balance, that I think make this such a special comic. Firstly, this is a story with teeth. This is a world where people can, and do, come to serious harm, through the horrifying use of magic, through the neglect of systems and individuals, through acts of cruelty, through the weight of the responsibilities and expectations that are placed upon them. The threats that assail ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (79/? eps)
This is the dumbest plot I ever read. Everyone as an adult leadership is crazy and the reason for not using certain spells has no sense.
It frustrates me to read it, and see the only ones who think about a solution are the kids making all the adults look like idiots.
All the guards can burn in hell. No exception.
The author keeps too long in a single plot that could have been solved earlier if the main character had stopped talking.
Whoever wrote on the websites that this was a seinen was missing the point. It's not possible that a plot with such lazy arguments was written ...

Witch Hat Atelier is like the demon slayer version of Shoujo manga. I know it's technically Seinen, but that's just what I think.

First off, let's start with the showstopper. The art. It's phenomenal. I probably haven't seen any storyboarding and art so well drawn. If Yusuke Murata, who draws OPM is highly technical, then Witch Hat Atelier's art is more creative and still has highly elaborate design and technical skills.

However, what else does the manga have to offer? Ultimately, it follows the same formula that shounen mangas do, which is to introduce a character with "dangerous abilities," one that needs to be ...
