Loved the confrontation at the end, the 'Your're next.' was awesome.

I wondered about the first lines in this episode though, saying that it was someone who's not Irako Seigen killed the ones we saw dying in the past episodes.

It is the official line, that the traitor to the school committed the killings.

That final scene is just beautiful.

mmmm i don't see why Seigen hates Fujiki that much, after all it was the old master who caused what happened in the past.

Oh right, the gaps between the earlier eps made me forget, thanks for the reminder.

Because Fujiki is Kogan's little lapdog and the whole of the school needs to go down. :)

Irako is a peace of sh*t in my opinion. I cant stand the guy. From episode one i've hated him and this episode just adds more to that hatred. His looks piss me off even more, hes like a more feminine version of Orochimaru from Naruto. The only difference is Irako has basically won over every women that looks at him.

well, Irako is the only 1 who knows how to get a woman... Fujiki couldn't even protect Mie when she needed him most

Ya because he didn't want to loose his life lol same reason why Irako didn't want to have sex. He figured if he did she would kill herself and then sensei would be pissed and probably kill him and also because he likes Sensei's wife more then the daughter. I understand you though, it was a bit annoying that Fujiki didn't do anything but its not surprising since almost everyone there would have killed him without any questions asked. Not to mention Fujiki is dedicated to his sensei where as Irako just wants sex and power. So I still side with Fujiki in this show.

One of the best episodes of anime I've ever seen. Superb from start to finish.

Amazing fight scene, I really thought Kogan was done for. Great reunion between everyone, loved the last shot too, especially how Fujiki zoomed into the shot.

Biting into one's hand to spit blood at the opponent's face- probably not very realistic or feasible, but it did look cool.

That's Sensei for you. The fight was amazing. I wonder how Mie becomes attached to Fujiki and wishes for Iraku's death? (as shown in the first episode) I guess Iraku might kill the sensei or something...

Agreed, this anime as a whole has been amazing since episode 1, but this episode took it to a new level.

I'm actually unsure now who I'm supposed to be rooting for. In the first episode I was rooting for Fujiki, but now I think my sympathies are heading towards Irako.

I didn't think I'd write something about this series. So far it was pretty good, nothing mind blowing though and I didn't have much to say. But HOLY SHIT this episode was intense. I had to remind myself to breath more than once because it was that suspenseful. Terrific episode.

I really liked that they added spanish swordplay , its not so common for samurai anime .
The atmosphere was as stunning as ever and that standoff of Irako and Fujiki at the end was outstanding, easily 5/5 .

Another sublime episode. And I loved the fact that they incorporated Spanish swordsplay to standard samurai fare.

Irako's rage is understandabl, but I don't get why he hates Fujiki. It's Sensei who made him the way he is

This episode was one of the best, I loved every moment of it
The new sword fighting style that was brought in was very cool to see
It's interesting to see how the Feudal Japanese people react to some special sword style from "a distant land" in Europe, specifically Spain
This episode was just perfect with suspense and build it took me for a ride
At first I thought the Spanish sword guy was gonna completely outclass Kogan as he had to many others but then Kogan got real and completely outclassed him, showing that he can use his fists just as well as Fujiki and that he still has immense skill even in his old age
Just a greeeeat episode
I can't wait for the next one, the fight hype will probably being soon, that final rematch will be legendary

Ultimately experience trumped talent. But boy did they illustrate exactly why an expert European fencer was so lethal, with it being deadly, quick, hard to visualise it's target spot and hard to block, especially with kendo sword play. That's why Kogan being the badass he is, opted for a brilliant on the spot block using the hilt handle.

Against an unarmored opponent (Aztecs), the sword flicks slice through the body like butter, especially the abdomen and against an armored opponent, the sword's durability to bending ensures for successful stabs into chinks in the plate armour.

Off course, the style would never have been effective (thin lengthy sword would've shattered easily, especially against armor) had it not been for metal smithing that allowed say a Toledo spanish sword to bend into an circular shape in order to pass the test.

So epic when Kogan-Sensei is pouncing like a tiger and just beats that little shit to a pulp. Shows his true stripes and how dangerous he can really be when he's not crazy!

That freaky bald jumper sure was a smug fool. Incorporating a foreign style not many in the area are familiar with was clever (how he pierced that Samurai armor weakpoint was awesome, I admit). I thought that Kogan was finally done for, Irako's return making it even more dramatic but I was wrong. His face got crushed and his weaseling days are over.

"Long time no see." Go figure xD When you're all out of sake to spit to your rival so you bite yer hand hard to spit out the blood. He also used the Byakugan lol.

you mean you can pierce and thrust with a sword NO WAY! Kogan sure is an idiot. So irako was here the whole time. Also mr piercer here sure was an idiot though pretty nice visuals. Im guessing these guys would've died anyway by stds with all this blood spraying at each other.

damn I was really hoping sekiun would kill kogan, so tired of that creepy old fuck. actually I hope mie will kill him. would be well deserved after he tried to use her as a breeding sow

nice to see irako again lol! I think it's pretty obvious why he hates fujiki, they've always been rivals and fujiki was the one who demolished him when he was already injured. sure, it was on kogan's orders, but I doubt that matters much to irako.

must say that I hope irako wins against fujiki. I don't think either of them are particularly good people, but irako at least is interesting and likeable

great episode. this anime really excels at using a slower pace, the tension was palpable.

A great fight between Kogan and Sekiun, though that was certainly not a Spanish swordplay (Destreza), but something more resembling an Italian school. But it does make sense, because what we see is that Sekiun learned the basics of the rapier technique from some other Japanese, who would have to learn it from someone else, and by Edo era it would be very hard to find contact with the West, let alone Western swordsmen. Naturally, by the second- or even third-hand, the technique would change and twist into something very different.
