I don't like Yui as much as I did before but I still like her enough to want to see her in every episode. I feel like she went through something really terrible and I can't wait to see what it was.

I'm super curious about what exactly happened to Yui in those 3 months.

And also, why is she all of a sudden in love with Tamahome? She doesn't even know him.

Maybe she's pretending to get at Miaka?

I still remember how much I hated Yui when I first watched this show as a child..
But now that I think about it as an adult..

I realized Yui has a HUGE reason to hate Miaka after everything that happened.

When Miaka first came to that world alone, she had someone to completely protect her all the time. Tamahome always comes to the rescue. Meanwhile, Yui still waited patiently for her arrival and read the book in that freaking room while Miaka was trapped in that world. Did you see Yui get jealous of Miaka and Tamahome while reading that book? No! She was worried sick about her best friend and continued reading just to help Miaka find a way back to their world. She even cheered for Miaka when she was about to die in that world, telling her that Tamahome and the others are calling for her. She just wanted to reunite with her friend!

And then here comes the tricky part. Miaka successfully came back to the real world and Yui got sucked inside the book in exchange. The first thing Miaka did was to look for Yui. But instead of continuing to read the book in the library (she could have stayed even if the library is about to close down since the guards didn't even notice her inside the room), she went outside and just dialed Yui's home number. All she thought about was that Yui left somewhere while she's inside the book. Girl, she didn't even leave you for a second after you were brought to the other world and you are already thinking of that possibility. I can understand that she's just confused of what to do with the book but she should have realized it sooner that her friend is in danger because she was completely alone in that other world without any form of help or communication from the real world!

And the whole time Miaka was thinking of coming back inside the world of the book, she could only think of Tamahome and Tamahome. Yeah, I know she loved him but isn't her friend more important? In my opinion, Yui was just the second priority for Miaka here. Even after coming back to the other world, she stayed happy-go-lucky about finding Yui. God, she even planned to gather first the other guardians of Suzaku before rescuing her friend! Can't she think of anything else beside Tamahome? What if something horrible is happening to her friend while she's taking too long to save her? Good thing Yui was saved by Nakago.

And now that they were finally reunited, Yui still believed Miaka. Waited for her even and is still willing to go with her. But after hearing hearing Miaka say to Tamahome that he is the reason why she came back (that she can't stop thinking of him), Yui lost every piece of hope and trust she had for her friend. That hurts big time, seeing them kiss too.

Okay. I'll stop here. I just wanted to express how I feel about this right now... I feel so disappointed of Miaka and I managed to understand Yui's feelings. I hope everything is fixed and Yui can become happy too!

Wow this is probably the best episode directed and on Yui's story. The music box was actually really clever touch and some of the animation cuts of just the atmosphere is damn good.

I don't think Yui's feelings are misplaced at all, she grew up being Miaka's protector and as soon as she's discarded Miaka starts to rely on Tamahome instead and makes the place of her best friend pretty much her only reason; she's a pretty shoddy best friend who other then to go get Yui hadn't done anything in the same league as Yui did for her. I almost was a little bit taken back that Yui also liked Tamahome but I think she just wants someone to protect her and care about her for once, which is definitely warranted. Miaka gets all these prizes and people around her and never earns it, yeah I'd be bitter too.

Also lol at Miaka saying "I need the scroll to help me find the others" when all of them have found her by coincidence. WE NEED THE PLOT DEVICE.

Jeeez Yui get a grip.

no think about it, EVERY single character in this anime aside from Miyaka and Yui are just characters in some old Chinese book. So itd be petty sad if Miyaka came back all this way to get a fake boyfriend.

Yui is suppose to be the smart one and she just did a total 180. Is she being hypnotized?

I feel so bad for Yui. But why does her trust in Miaka just wither away? If Miaka didn't want to find her, she wouldn't risk her all to get to her.

I wonder why Yui's so hurt after she overheard Miaka. When she must've understood what Miaka felt for Tamahome having read the book herself when Miaka fell in love with him. And Miaka did search for her.. but still felt very bad seeing her hurt, she seemed to get back her faith in Miaka, only for it to be broken immediately..

The long kiss was romantic :D <3 The utilization of music is great, makes me blush at times.

Well, comsidering how many times Tamahome saved Miaka, Yui must have faced serious trouble for 3 months in this world with no "Tamahome". Now, blaming Miaka for this is pretty irrational.

Lol people actually are mad at Yui "uh so irrational, get a grip". Like I'm actually scared to even find out whatever happened to her in those 3 months. Did she get traded in the slave market or something? It just looks horrible. And in those times of torture, she believed in her best friend, just to get the taste of betrayal when she realized her friend came back not for her, but for a man who she herself loves. Worse yet, he also loves Miaka.

Whatever it is, she is mentally unstable, rightfully so. And for someone who seemingly undergoes sth so horrible in months, you'd think thinking like this is not plausible? I just hope it wasn't like some slave torture or rape, because that would just be fucking depressing. I watched this show for the ridiculousness and stupidity, not to see someone innocent inadvertently getting tortured. If this is how it is, this ain't even worth it. I could watch sth depressing but at least worth the time. Please just don't be THAT serious.

Yes, Yui still has feelings for Tamahome, but he apparently has feelings for one person: Miaka. Poor Yui, helping her friend.

But all that is crushed when she sees him kissing her best friend. That crush quickly turns to jealousy and hate. She deceives Miaka to come to the Temple of Seiryuu.

Hat Monk and Tamahome approach the temple, but cannot enter due to a barrier that prevents those not of the faith out.. It was revealed that Yui is the priestess of Seiryuu, but she finally fully embraces it. Blonde dude unleashes his power to kill Miaka, but Tamahome and Chichiru succeed in bypassing the barrier and get Miaka out. Hat Monk has a nice hat trick!
